Help Please!

posted 3rd Feb
I am writing a final paper for my Child Psychology Class. I am really struggling to find a single topic that I can expand enough to cover 3-5 pages. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!

Here is the requirements:

Many ingredients go into the “making of a child”. In order to be effective as parents and teachers, we need to consider these ingredients or variables (religion, age of parents, special needs, family financial status, country of origin, etc). For this assignment, you need to choose one ingredient to research. Then you need to write a paper summarizing your findings. Try to think outside the box. Ask yourself the following questions as you conduct your research:
· What does current research tell us about this topic?
· How does this affect a child’s development?
· Are there positive as well as negative effects?
· Are all children affected in the same way?

Marital status? You could touch on married couples, single parent families, unmarried families, divorced families, even families who practice polyamory or open relationships and how that affects children.

This would be interesting...

http://www.apa.org/topics/socioeconomic-status/index.aspx

I did a paper on this topic and I had a lot to write about. This includes a famil'y financial status, educational status, etc. you could break down each part and discuss a case study.

I feel like this is kind of easy if you think about it. It need to be 3-5 pages and it already tells you what to write about. If it were me I would do it in 6 paragraphs.

1. Introduction
2-4:
· What does current research tell us about this topic?
· How does this affect a child’s development?
· Are there positive as well as negative effects?
· Are all children affected in the same way?
6.Conclusion

ex. age of parents

current research mostly focuses on the fact that parents should be older, they offer better finances, more patience etc.
positives vs negatives. younger parents may be more agile, may be able to relate more. Older parents, may have more finances, may be more prepared.

That's how I would go about it. With any of those topics.

Thanks. I just tend to over think alot of these things. Its just my style of approach cant comprehend making things that simple, when in reality thats all this instructor is asking for! Thanks for the advice.

Believe me I know. I'm the same way and it takes me a lot of "crying" and complaining about how hard it is until I procrastinate till the last minute and realize...OH! haha.
