Breastfed baby has thrush :(

I am taking him into the doctor tomorrow.. I never had any symptoms I had no idea but I feel horrible that he has it   Will she prescribe medicine for both of us since we both need to be treated or will I have to go to my doctor separately ? I only ask because my insurance ran out last month :/

I felt the same way last week when i noticed my 7 month old had it... i took her to the docs they prescribed her nystatin in liquid form for her and ointment for me since i breastfeed

They should be able to prescribe it for both of you.

Idk if you already went but gentian violet works so much better for thrush than nystatin. A lot of moms quit Bfing because I thrush and nystatin sometimes can take 2 weeks to months to get rid of it. GV can take as little as 3 days. Te yeast can get awful out of control for you. It can start on your nipples and then spread up inside the milk ducts. It's very painful and you need Fluconazole to treat it. When I first got it I suffered for 6 weeks. I got it cause of the antibiotics I had for gbs. I but the bullet and dealt with it cause the dr prescribed me a stupid topical cream and it didn't do crap. I didn't know anything about thrush at the time. The dr gave dd nystatin. It didn't do crap. It go worse and worse. When I went to my 6wk pp visit crying in pain the NP gave me Fluconazole and we were able to start healing. I didn't know about GV then. When we got it again at 9mos I think I used GV at the start of symptoms and got myself Fluconazole and we knocked that crap out in 1 day.
