Breast Feeding... PLEASE help me!!!

I had BFing problems since he was born (1/2  and had to supplement w/ formula due to loss of weigt and then also had to switch to a soy based formula bc it upset his belly... well anyways today is like the 2nd day my milk has been steady but not like full... idk how to explain its there and it does come out but I am not sure how much all i know is he is content w just my breast and is making diapers... well today I can not get him off my breast he has nursed since 10am and had 3 diapers all very runny yellow and he has been fussy constantly wanting more breast... how many diapers sould a BF baby make? I could swear my nurse told me not alot bc BF babies get all the nutrients and there is not much left... and my baby as pooped like 6 times and its only 1:35pm... he seems content now and is asleep in his swing... please I need advice I am new to BFing and I am a new mom... I am trying my best but should he seriously want to nurse every hour?? I swear i was told 2 to 3 hours... I feel like i am doing wrong or my baby might not be ok? he is 1 week old tomorrow. I feel like I cant tell the difference between diareah and reg poop w/ a baby b/c I heard its supposed to be runny... so stressed about this....

Relax   all of that sounds normal. He may be going through a growth spurt. Also, he may be cleaning out his bowels from the formula. It sounds like you're doing great  

Cluster feeding is completely normal. My son was wanting to eat every 45min to an hour and that was after he had spent 30min on the boob.

He is probably going through a growth spurt. They will cluster feed. Basically the first 6-8 weeks just expect him to be attached 24/7. The worst thing you can do is watch the clock. Just nurse when he is hungry. Some BF babies poop a lot some not so much there is no right or wrong answer. Just stop supplementing and nurse nurse nurse.

He is probably going through a growth spert. My son cluster feeds some days & other days he will eat every 2-3 hours for 10 minutes & not want anymore. It's completely normal. My son's stools have always been runny & yellow. Also, completely normal. No worries, mama. He is using the bathroom regularly so he is definitely eating well.  

Wow it sounds like you've had some very bad advice from some uninformed nurses. I'm sorry you're having such a rough start.

A breastfed newborn wants to nurse ALL day and night. My son nursed every 45 minutes to an hour for the first month of his life. Totally normal.

You do NOT need to supplement with formula. He is getting plenty.

Newborns can make anywhere from 8-15 diapers a day.
Yellow, seedy, runny poop in a breastfed baby means he's HEALTHY.

Follow these rules of thumb:
- Put your baby to the breast as often as possible. Every cry, whimper, etc. -- give him the boob.
- Do not supplement with formula.
- It's healthy for your baby to use your breasts as pacifiers.
- He is getting plenty.

Bout covers it...totally normal(wish I got that advice when I was BFing...my son probably starved cuz I followed bad advice given on FB) Anyway, they should have NEVER started making you supplement that early. Weight loss that early is totally normal...STOP SUPPLEMENTING!!! You will be better off...I read a lot that having formula around was a set up to fail at BFing and it is true. Throw the formula away and keep doing what you're doing. Oh and my son pooped every time he ate just about. Good luck!

the only thing that scares me is I am afraid he isnt getting much like just now he wanted and i tried but he fussed bc I am dry now after 3 hours and I was only supplementing bc of the loss of 10 percent of is BW just scary not knowing if he is losing againg... I feel so bad cause i can tell he is hungry

The only way you're body knows to produce more is to keep putting him on...even after you think you're empty you'd be amazed at how much he can get. Just keep trying...usually they will do all the preparing you're body be the actual growth spurt so during a growth spurt you are already making enough to give him the amount he needs. Don't worry Mama you may be misreading the fuss! My son stayed a consistent weight from birth (as far as I know he didn't even lose any in hospital which is normal) until he was a month...I had to start supplementing. I was given awful advice while trying to EBF (as I said before) BUT they waited a month before deciding it wasn't working.
