L/O biting while breastfeeding.. PLEASE HELP!

My L/O started biting me last night while nursing. I don't know what to do to stop her. She will be 8 months in a few days. I don't want to stop breastfeeding , but, she made me bleed on both sides and it is so painful while she eats now. I just need some advice on what to do when she bites.

When she bites unlatch he right away yell "ow" and let her know it hurts. Put her down and dont nurse her. When she comes back up tell her "If you bite again your gonna have to eat from a bottle." And if she bites again repeat.

She is old enough that she should understand. DS tried it once I did that and he has nibble here and there with teeth but not full on bite.

Put her down for a couple seconds then pick her up again and continue nursing whole telling her not to bite mommy cuz it hurts.

Push your breast into her face until she lets go then put her down.

Give her something to play with while nursing to distract her.


My son bit me a couple times in the 2 1/2 years we breastfed. Usually it was after he'd fallen asleep and was still latched. So I started unlatching him as soon as he fell asleep.

I have tried it all with my last and nothing NOTHING worked. So I had to stop breastfeeding.

I really hope I don't have to stop. It's making me cry just thinking about it. But I understand that if nothing else works, I will have to stop. Thank you for your honesty.
