OPK (PCOS)

posted 3rd Feb
When did mamas with PCOS start taking ovulation predictors? Do you only take one a day or are you supposed to do it a few times a day?

Well considering I was told I didn't have it only to find out 2 days ago the doc put in my chart that I did, I been using opks. I test twice a day. Once mid morning and the second late afternoon early evening. Good times would be 10am to 8 or 9pm. I do that until I see the line get considerably darker then I test 3 times a day til I get my positive. Since you have PCOS I have a question. Do you have normal cycles? Or do you go months with normal cycles then have one where you don't ovulate and it goes out of wack then back on track again. That is what I do but I do have a period every month. The only symptoms I really have are some (not a lot) of hair under my chin and on my abdomen part. That's really it. I am overweight but I've been chubby almost all my life. I think it's just cuz I'm lazy lol. But I've read so much on PCOS and I really don't have many symptoms of it. I guess I have a very slight case of it which is good. When I go see my doctor I'll see if she can test my hormones again.

My periods are not regular at all. I actually just had to have my period restarted with Provera after six months of not having one. I will occasionally get a "regular" period but only for like three months at a time and even then it will start on like the 14th one month and the 20th the next month. But then there are times I skip periods for two or three months before they come back. I have extra body hair EVERYWHERE. boobs, stomach, feet, ass, lower back, chin, I have side burns. Plus I have acne (have never gotten a break from it) and super heavy periods when I do have them. When I was tested my testosterone levels were very high and I had tiny cysts on my ovaries.

Wow. See I really don't have much of anything. I have a lil bit of excess hair under my chin. Not even a lot. My levels came back normal when they were tested before my surgery because they did a total hormone panel on me so they can rule out PCOS. All my levels were normal. I've always had a period every month. I may have in all my life since starting my period for the first time have had like a total of 4 or 5 times where I skipped a period. That's not counting when I was preggo. So I've been pretty regular. I have gone where my period went 11 days late. Thats the latest a period has been and that was this past year after my miscarriage. So if I do have PCOS it must not be a really bad case of it. I will ask my doctor do to another complete hormone analysis just to see if my hormones changed at all. She did tell me that if I didn't start getting positive opks she would do a CD21 test to see if I ovulate. But the bad thing with that is I don't ovulate on CD14 or whatever to do a CD21 test. It would just have to be 7 days from the day I ovulate. I think that is how long after they test it. But I'm calling tomorrow to see if they set up an appointment for me at the ER and if not I'll make one.
