Low back booster seat.

Asking for SO. Do low back booster seats expire the same as a car seat does? Does having a high back booster make any difference compare to low back?

I think the high back protects them more also it keeps the seatbelt where it's supposed to be. My daughter is 7 and still in the high back and it's not even at its highest setting.
I'm not sure about the expiry date though I would think it wouldn't expire as soon since they are still using the vehicle seatbelt and that's just used to boost them up a few inches.

That's what I figured. His son is 7 and in a low back.

Yes, they expire the same as all other car seats. When it expires depends on the manufacturer. Our 8yo is in a HB booster, but sometimes rides in a backless in DH's car.
As long as the shoulder belt is in the right position and the car has a headrest, a 7yo is 'ok' to be in a backless booster. As far as side impact, so many cars are more than adequately equipped with SIP that in studies the kids are just as safe.
