Late miscarriage- post partum

I had a late miscarriage 2 days ago at 15 weeks. I went through the entire birth process: cytotec, water broke, pushed, delivered the baby and placenta. Due to the placenta getting stuck and them having to manually clean me out I had more bleeding than expected. I passed tennis ball size clots at the hospital.
My question is, what's normal now? Im 2 days post partum and having cramping, my hands and feet are swollen which they said is normal, but when does it go down? I'm also having a hard time really telling a difference between grief and PPD. I've dealt with depression for 4 years and they said the miscarriage plus my history makes me super susceptible to PPD. Anyone been through this?

I don't know the answer to this, I didn't loose my baby that far along but I know it still hurt my heart, I am SOOOO sorry for your loss I know that doesnt make you feel better either, (well it didnt make me anyways). Hope you feel better soon. <3

i had to have an emergency d and c because i didnt deliver my plecenta at all i bleed and had clots for almost 8 weeks and when i went to the ER for heavyer bleeding after is slowed they thought infection but all my labs came back clean they gave me meds to be on the safe side they did not want to risk it...


It does sound like PPD i would talk to ur DR a/s/a/p to see if they can give u something.

However u also need time to grieve as well. I am so sorry for ur loss. I hope this helps a bit.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's such a hard thing to go through. You can't even explain the pain to someone who hasn't been there.

Thanks. It's only been 2 days and I know I need time to grieve my baby girl. I go for a 3 week check up and I will talk to my doctor if the depression isn't lessening.

First i'm sorry mama

I had a late M/C at 17 weeks last spring. They gave me the option on how I wanted to do everything since the baby would not pass on her own.

I opted to have a D&E. I bleed for about 2+ weeks after wards but no real clots...

I was very depressed for weeks afterwards.. i would wake up and just cry some nights. it got real bad for a while. I just couldn't understand why me..

It took probille 2 1/2 months to really get out of depression.. but I think getting pregnant again had a lot to do with that.

Thanks mama, I'm sorry for your loss as well. I'm hoping the bleeding will lessen soon. I just have super tiny clots right now.

Are you going to be talking to a grief counselor, pastor, etc? <3

I've been in touch with the grief counselor at our church. They also have a support group at the hospital, so I may go to that

I'm doing pretty good. At some point company might just be nice. Todd is leaving for a business trip again starting tomorrow, so my mom is going to be staying with me. I just don't want to be alone right now

Okay. Well, maybe we can work something where I can come up there without the kids. Chris' schedule is kind of funky, but if we planned ahead I bet I could get my MIL or someone to watch the kids for a few hours.

I got pregnant about 2 or 3 months after losing a baby at 19 weeks. My son is 3 now and my friend just told me how stressed I had seemed during the entire pregnancy with him, which makes sense since I was so afraid of losing him too I didn't even want any kind of baby shower for him. Be gentle on yourself and have faith, now I have a beautiful healthy little boy!
