with my first pregnancy i spotted a little in the begginning but i had a very healthy baby boy. if shes not full on bleeding sounds like she should be fine but maybe just tell her to go to the e.r to make sure

Okay good, that gives me some hope for her.

My ob says its not "normal" but it's common. IAm 13 weeks 2 days and I have been spotting every color imaginable since 5 w. it's always in my discharge (sorry tmi) and only when I wipe. I just last week had my first 4 whole days in a row with none. Them I strained to poop and I had some Friday. I have had 2 ultrasounds and heard the heartbeat with a Doppler. Everything has been fine for me so far. My ob said its probably a sensitive cervix since I was most irritated after my transvaginal ultrasound. I would call the ob and ask. They understand the worry and spotting, while common, could point to many different things that they like to check on. They might squeeze her in early or tell you if an er trip is your best bet.

Also, it's completely normal to be worried. I've been told numerous times that everything is fine, but mama bear wants baby bear to be ok.

I just went through this yesterday. I had some spotting only when I wiped. This is my third pregnancy and it threw me off. I didn't have it with either of my first two. So I went to the ER. I figure I would rather them tell me it's nothing than to ignore it and have it be nothing. They did an U/S and said that baby is where it should be, my RBC was fine and my hCG level was fine. So they just diagnosed it as a "threatened miscarriage" which means that I may or may not miscarry. Most women that have some spotting go on to have normal healthy pregnancies. They told me to just take it easy for a while and no sexual intercourse. If it eases her mind, she can always call her doctor or go to the ER.

I had bleeding at the beginning of my pregnancy. I had an ultrasound and it turned out to be a subchorionic hemmorhage.

I also cramped horribly with that baby. The doctor called it a "threatened abortion" he also said its not "normal" but it happened a lot. He also told me that 50% of women that bleed will miscarry but that's not too far off 1 and 4 miscarry anyway. I sure hope she is ok!
