insensitive husband story...can anyone relate?

posted 3rd Feb
hi all, this happened last week and its still irritating to me cuz he wont let it go...
does your man ever "laugh" or make light of your decreased ability to get around? for instance, last week i am getting ready to take my son to his doc appointment and already running late of course because no one ever cooperates when you're in a hurry (and pregnant)...and i got the kids ready finally. come to realize i cant get my socks on. i sorta already knew this but wasnt thinking and didnt plan for it. my belly gets in the way and i cant reach my feet easily to put socks on. anyway after a few minutes of trying (and eyes starting to well-up in frustration) i call my husband venting and asking to help. lucky he only works 5 mins away. so he comes home to help me and he's laughing. the day went on and i was fine but then he got home at night and he brought it up laughing again. now he seems to have a little fun with the fact that i cant do that, or cant bend over easily to pick up stuff off the floor, stuff like that. should this bother me or am i being too sensitive?

You're being too sensitive.

That is a hilarious mental image. You having to call your husband home from work cause you can get socks on? That is like stright out of a sitcom

Relax. Learn to laugh at yourself. It's not that serious

He probably thinks it is cute. I mean, it is pretty damn cute if you think about it. And funny. I know and understand why it's not funny to you NOW because you're the one suffering, but in a few months you will find it hilarious, too.

Lol I'm sorry but I think you're over reacting.
You had to call your husband to come home from work to put your sock on for you. Lol it's funny and it's cute. My husband would tease me for that too. I'm sure he's not being malicious, he just thinks its funny. Which it is.

You're probably being too sensitive. I can see how a big belly would make things awkward and that people would think it was funny. If he didnt help you out, and stood there laughing at your failed attempts to put socks on, then that'd be messed up...

thanks all, yeah ive known from past pregnancies that this is a problem. i dont know if its everyone or just me cuz i'm small with a big belly. normally i would wear slip on shoes or flip flops but now its winter and snowy, and i didnt want to leave the house without socks or warm shoes. so being too sensitive you think??? thanks for the comments. true he is not malicious at all but his laughs and "comments" always come at the wrong time LOL. i told 2 friends and one also thought it was funny, and another thought he was totally insensitive.

Yup it sure will. When I was almost due with my daughter i thought my water was leaking and I called my husband home from work to rush me to labor and delivery. Turns out it wasn't my water, I had just beenpeeing all over the house that morning. Lol he kept teasing that I was just marking my territory.
I wasn't hurt by it, it was funny.

My SO and I were going to get a waterbed before we knew I was pregnant. Plans fell through for some reason or another, and we ended up getting a normal bed.

And now, we've been joking back and forth that if we HAD gotten the waterbed, I would be calling him from work to help me get out of it in the mornings, since he works right across the street. And I would have. And it would have been hilarious. XD

This! My DH laughs at me every time I take my shirt off or if he can see my bellybutton starting to poke out. He doesn't do it to be mean, he just thinks it's funny that I have this big ball where my tummy used to be...and this is our third time, so I can't tell you it gets any better. In fact, I usually laugh too, or I act like it hurt my feelings and that a milkshake (or whatever other craving) would make me feel better and forgive him. lol Win win situation!!!

yeah thats cute, mine did that too; during my first pregnancy the thing was not being able to reach the cabinets (i'm short), so I always need a step stool - still do. so anyway after a while i couldnt reach even with a step stool cuz my belly would block me from getting too close to the countertop, so he was always getting stuff for me. now ive learned to put the important things lower lol. which i can reach now but its just as hard bending over.
