A question about braxton hicks...TIA!

posted 2nd Feb
So I am just wondering something. I know that many women experience Braxton hicks throughout their pregnancies, and I have as well since I was 18 weeks. Well, lately they have changed and I am not sure if they are false labor contractions which I dunno if it's the same thing as Braxton hicks or not. But now instead of it just being parts of my belly that gets hard it's the entire thing. My belly gets solid rock hard allll over now. And before I wasn't having much pains with them but the pain has increased (which I think a lot is due to the fact he is head down and is very low and his head is engaged). But I am wondering with the farther along a woman gets in her pregnancy does the Braxton hicks become different, and do they begin to get closer (mine have been getting pretty rapid lately)? Do they still sound like BH, if it's hard alllll over? Just wondering I am not in serious enough pain to go to the ER, just curious.

I had timab;e 5 min apart according to the monitors at the hospital that were 120+ and hurt like hell but if you're worried go in I did every time I was and your doc can help you a little more, but you can try drinking water and resting to see if they go away

Are you able to time them? If you're having 6 or more within an hour, you should probably get checked out. Are you drinking plenty of water? Dehydration can cause preterm contractions, so make sure you're staying hydrated. When I was pregnant with my daughter, they got more intense as I got further along.

They are not timeable. Some days I get them like several an hour and some days I barely get any at all it's so weird! But they aren't really painful to much, just cramps in my lower pelvic area. But when they do get painful I do the drinking water thing, and just rest and usually it does ease up for me.

On rare occasions I may have more then 6 but most of the time it's just several in an hour maybe 3-6 but no more then that. But I am definitely staying dehydrated, I was having contractions a few weeks ago specifically because of dehydration, and the nurse said that I could go into labor if I don't drink more fluids if my body got dehydrated enough. So I am most definitely staying hydrated!!! I just wasn't sure if they stayed the same or could become more intense so I definitely figure after your response it must be normal

It's good that they aren't timable and they go away but talk to your doctor anyway most want to be notified if you have a certain number per hr. mine was more than 5 an hr until they realized that I had one every 5 min from 13 weeks on

Oh yes, my ob knows about them, I just wanted to make sure it was ok if they begin to be different. I guess it's also since I am 5 weeks from my due date they shouldddd start to progress  ! Since I am not to far away from having my little boy

I was 44 weeks when I finally had her the ONLY reason I was ok with being induced was because her fluid was borderline for 2 weeks so they induced me those two weks and she wasn't gonna come out and I wasn't gonna have a c-section unless it was an emergency. The third time I was being prepared for the c-section after almost 20 hrs of pit my water broke and I went from 2-10 in no time and had her

Whoa....that is insane, I couldn't imagine going 4 weeks overdue! But I can understand why that happened! but at least the next one went great!
