Quoting I'm Marbles:" I don't know what house size has to do with anything. My husband and I have a pretty big size and we ... [snip!] ... I'll go sit with him or call him to come hang out with me. I would say when we are home we spend 75% of the time together."

cos like, i'm not going to go down to his man cave and watch him play video games 'n such.
and the kids bedrooms are on the third floor, so when we're up there or in the play room, he's not automatically following us around.

if we lived in a place with one living room, where we all kinda had to share the same space, i'm sure we'd be seeing more of each other, just not be immediate choice.

We usually spend most of the day together on weekends but it's b/c we're running errands or something like that.

Our apartment is small so the only other room to spend time in to relax other than te living room is a bedroom. And if I go in the bedroom, the spawn follow me (but they NEVER follow him). Tonight he did take the boychild with him to a friend's house to play cards, but that's a rare occurrence.

Quoting KNZ.:" mine almost never "goes out" (going out is like, going to a hockey game, or going to practice, etc) ... [snip!] ... i'm cleaning the floor he's on, and sometimes we'll all watch a movie together. the kids just go to whatever floor i'm on. "

We have a back-split, so technically we have 4 floors....my office is on the top floor and his is in the basement....sometimes when we are both working on stuff, we are completely separate. Normally we all hang out in the living room.

Yes we do. We dont ask permission we just give each other a heads up and say "got anything going on Sat, I want to do this"

that's the example i'm meaning too for the 'smaller houses' for people who didn't understand why that would make a difference.
like, before we moved back in with dude, we had a large living room/kitchen space then just our bedrooms, so whenever we were having someone over- you kinda just had to be in the same space

Exactly. If we had more space, we wouldn't be on top of each other all the time. And the kids would have more space to play. Someday...

I dunno.
We're not really the "spend time" couple. We can be perfectly happy reading or playing on the computer in the same room. We both enjoy companionable silence.

that's what i always considered a good balance of co-existing. you can be in the same space, but doing your own thing.

Granted, our house is small, BUT even if we were to live in a larger place, we would still spend the vast majority of our time off together. I married him because I like spending time with him ;) We have one couch and spend most of our time laying up together watching something on tv. I'm glad we have a smaller place, I think it helps us stay closer and more intimate
