Hair help?

posted 2nd Feb
So I dyed my hair black about 2 weeks ago, and I had it highlighted blonde(with foil) 2 days ago. I was just wondering how can I keep the black and blonde in my hair? Do I touch up my roots with box dye for the black? (I dont want to go back to the salon just to get a root touch up, but If I do it myself, I dont want my roots to be darker than the rest of my hair...Sorry if its confusing, Thanks for everyone's advice!

Is it black with blonde streaks? If so, I wouldn't do it myself. Those are some scary colors to foil apart.

It's probably going to be difficult. If your hair is more black, you'll probably have to touch up with black and then re hi-light every so often.

Yeah my full head is black with 7 blonde foil highlights. I cant really afford to spend 60 bucks everytime my roots show through the black.

That's why I do things to my hair that I am capable of keeping up. If you can't afford it.. I would start thinking of what look you want next that you can afford/keep up.

You can go to WalMart and get a frost & tip box for less than 12 bucks. You just pull your hair through the cap in thin bunches and hi-light. I just did it 2 nights ago and it turned out great. You just have to have common sense and not leave it on for hours and let it melt your hair.

Yeah I completely agree. But I didnt really want highlights. I wanted the black out of my hair and instead of bleaching it, the stylist suggested I put highlights instead so I did, and since I left the salon, its grown on me so I want to keep it this way. I can afford the highlights every now and then, I just wanted to know if I could "touch up" my roots with box dye without it looking darker than the rest of my hair.

I rather the foil highlights, for me.

IF you can keep the hair separate than after you let roots process, put it on the rest of the black to freshen it up for the last 5min. Black is black unless it's faded.

Ok, thanks...do you prefer any certain box dyes?

I don't use box dyes. I'm a professional, so I get the pro brands. But if you have a sallys beauty supply... Clairol is the best I think.
