heart palpatations

posted 2nd Feb
I don't remember getting these when I was pregnant last time but then again I was horrifically sick. I can't even really find anything on it online or in my text books from my nursing days, except that the circulatory system changes in early pregnancy.

Has anyone had this as a symptom or even heard of it?

Yes, it's quite common actually. Make sure you're staying hydrated. I get them all the time. My heart starts racing and I get extremely dizzy, but my EKG is clear.

I got them so bad I couldn't move or breathe when I was pregnant
If I laid down my heart rate would get so high I thought I was gonna die,at the hospital I was on the monitors and it got up to almost 200

I'm in the hospital right now from them. Inform your Dr. They will prob want to do an echo and ekg.

I ended up going into Afib with a pulse that went up to 288. No problems caused this, just can happen during pregnancy with the changing chemistry

If your palpitations are prolonged and pulse high it can stress baby. I went from the occasional 15min episode to one that didn't stop. Which is why I'm now in the hospital being monitored after they gave me meds to bring my pulse down and come out of Afib.

Could it lead to health issues in the future?

Oh, smurf! That's scary! Did they put you on a Cardizem drip?

It could, or it could also be completely harmless. A lot of people have PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) and PACs (premature atrial contractions) and it's not problematic. But for some, it can lead to other issues, such as ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. I'd definitely mention it to your doctor if it keeps up.

Yeah but it didn't work by itself. At first they would try to push it by iv and my BP would drop drastically but not touch my pulse. I responded to metoprolol a beta blocker with a drip of cardizem. I'm now just on oral metropolol and now lovnox injections. Got weaned off a heparin drip. Baby tolerated everything really well. It was scary.
