torticollis
posted 2nd Feb
So my peanut was diagnosised with toricollis around 3 months and began PT soon after once a week. They never did any times of x-rays or ultrasound on the muscle to see what is exactly going on. Not to mention the physical therapists does not seem very aggressive and I have never seen her actually touch my daughters neck. Well fast foward to her now being 5months 1 week old. Still have major issues with this torticollis, her left shoulder is high and she tilts her ear so that touches and her chin points to right shoulder. Her passive range of motion is defiantly impaired on the left, and now because she hated tummy time so bad she had to start wearing a helmet this week to help with her brachycephaly (flat head). I finally started taking her to a chiropractor a week and half ago, he has adjusted her 4 times and they message and strip the muscle. This has helped a bit because prior my daughter was unable to play with her left foot and now she can, she also is doing better with tummy time.
My proble is my gut is telling me something is wrong with that muscle beyond stiffness and that she should be seen by an orthopedic doctor and have some x-rays maybe even MRI done. I do not want this stuff put off much longer because I'm afraid it is going to affect her meeting developmental milestone. Her pediatrician and PT give me generic answers like don't worry keep doing stretches she'll grow out of it. BUT THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!! Anyone who has had a baby with torticollis please tell me your expirience and how long it took baby to get better, did it end up requiring surgery which is where I feel we might be heading.
