Daycare crib

posted 2nd Feb
Would you use a brand new daycare crib for your baby if it was free and you didn't have a huge budget? The kind with wheels and clear one the two ends.. Compliant with standard mattress. I got offered one and that 100 we'd spend on a crib can go to more stuff but idk.... They must be safe I'd assume.. Idk, thoughts?

If you're on a tight budget and its in good condition then yes. The only thing that worries me about those types of cribs is it seems like the 2 plastic ends would be a suffocation risk. But I guess not since I know most daycares use those.

Thanks   I just was worried about the clear sides, is that plastic or what? I've never been up close to one to see

I think something soft and cloth would be a suffocation risk but some something hard and flat because though it doesn't breathe, it's flat and doesn't take the shape of a face if a face is against it. I could be wrong though.

Alot of wooden cribs have solid ends and that seems to be safe? I'd take that sucker for free in a heartbeat!

Yea that could be it. I would take comfort in that if it wasnt safe they wouldnt have them in daycares of all places. So i dont think its anything to worry about...Plus it'd be really easy to move as those are lightweight and on wheels.

This talks a little about the new safety regualtions on cribs and daycares. Idk why they're giving it to you but it might not meet safety standards

A lady with a home daycare only watches 4 and older now so doesn't need it. Can I look up reviews on the model? Will the name be on there somewhere?

It should be on there. I'd check it out before getting it to be safe. Idk why daycares overhauled. We had to get all new cribs at our daycare too.
