Clomid regulating period
posted 2nd Feb
DH and I have been TTC for more than 2 years with no luck. He's done 2 s.a's and the most recent one came back with decent results.
Anyways, my cycles were normal before going on bc 4 years ago. When I came off of it in nov 09 they changed. My most recent cycle was 18 days long.....7 days early.
I know that bc could help regulate my period, but that defeats what we are trying to do (have a baby) plus I really don't want to go back on birth control (worried about side effects). Would getting on clomid also help regulate my cycles? I would really rather not go on bc, but will if I have to get my cycles back on track

No it doesn't. It helps you ovulate. You would need progesterone to regulate periods.

I had this problem before my husband and I got pregnant. We tried for a year and a half. My periods were very irregular. I went on the pill for three months, regulated my cycle and was pregnant two months after coming off the BC. It really does help!

My dr told me that if your period is irregular, there is a very good possibility that you aren't ovulating regularly. And the BC regulated my periods.

You can try Clomid but Clomid will only help you ovulate. Are you ovulating? If your cycles are too short it may be a progesterone issue. Check out fertilityfriend.com. It's very helpfull in teaching you how to track your cycles and learn more about your fertility.

Yeah, I think that may be the way I have to go...I just have to pray that it regulates once I get off since it didn't the first time around ( I was on mirena a then changed to nuvaring)

I think for the most part I am. I typically do opks. This month I ran out so I missed trying to find my surge. I guess there may be months where I'm annovulatory. I use ff to track my cycles but haven't really read up on the fertility info.
How would they fix my progesterone? Is that done with the cream or will I have to take pills?

I dunno I think it depends on your situation and your Dr. I know there are creams, pills and shots.

It's a pill. You take it so many days before your period for x Amt of time (I dont remember anymore). But it's not bc so u can still ttc on it. They had me on it for 3 cycles. Then I went off it and tried ttc for 6 more mos with no luck so we tried clomid for 3 cycles and got preg.

Thanks! I need to gather as much info as possible. I'd hate to go to the doc and have them just say I only have one choice and that's it

No it's not hard to regulate especially if you're having periods. I didn't have one for 3 mos so I had to induce the period with the progesterone and then regulate it with the monthly pills. My cycles were still long but I was at least Gettig a period. Luckil I started getting ovulation pain so I was able to track ovulation for the clomid. I'd try tracking ovulation and regulating your cycles before u start clomid.
