Trying a new food?

posted 2nd Feb
Can I get some opinions? I've never had seafood in my life. I can never get past the distinct smell. I have SEEN beautiful meals prepared that include seafood, but I am a bit skittish of trying any of it. What is a good fish to try that is NOT overpoweringly... smelly.

Tilapia. It is the least fishy IMO. You can even season it just like you would chicken.

Flounder or Tuna is always a good place to start but my fave is Salmon!

The only kind of fish I can stand to eat is Alaskan Flounder and then it has to be battered and fried. It's the only fish I've ever tasted that didn't taste like complete ass. Ugh.

Talapia (sp?) isn't bad, salmon is too much for me...it has an overwhelming fishy taste. I'm not big on seafood, honestly.

The only seafood that I like is crab, but I can't have it because I'm allergic to shellfish.

Salmon is really good too! But it has more of a fishy smell. I have a super yummy recipe for salmon, it is the only way I will eat it lol. But that's only if you like Dijon mustard and a crunchy topping

I think that's the name of what my boss mentioned to me.

I knew it was a weird name I'd never recall. Thanks for jogging my memory.

are you talking like battered fish type never?
If so I would suggest try battered first, Calamari rings, fish is fish no matter how people describe it has that fishy taste.

I love hoki and orange roughy. They are very mild tasting fish, great for beginners!

I mean never ever had any.

I see like really gorgeous stuff prepared and I want to try them one day. I know fish is a healthy and light meat, supposedly.

I've only had vegetarian sushi.

But I don't know if I can eat with the smell of the docks emanating from my plate.
