Screw them, it's none of their business! I can totally understand where you are coming from... my husband adopted my son when he was six so while he was old enough to know something was happening he wasn't old enough to understand the whole thing. We'll tell him when he's old enough to understand everything, but he knows that his dad adopted him. When we did it we dropped his middle name altogether ( I always hated it, but caved in to my ex at the hospital), we gave him my maiden name as his middle name and he adopted my husband's last name.

they are being asshats. you can do whatever u want with your child and i think its special for your son to have that connection!
