Mama, I am so, so sorry.
That is sort of what I meant... I would want that time. I would want to say hello, tell them about life and how much I loved them, and goodbye. I feel like I wouldn't have that chance with an abortion.

That has to be one of the most heart wrenchign things I've read in a D&D, though. I'm so sorry mama <3

Hypothetically, no. But I'd have an abortion if I were to get pregnant again, regardless.

My friends mum was told to abort because the babys arms and legs were deformed and the baby would die anyway not long after. She had the abortion and as they removed the baby (she was quite far gone) she saw and the baby was fine and would have been ok.
So id have to make 100% my child would have no life at all before I could make that choice.

Exactly.. I wanted to at least meet him and let him see a part of the world outside of my belly. I took him off life support because I didn't want him spending his few hours here attached to wires and monitors, I wanted him to be able to move freely and have a chance to meet his family. Everyone got to hold him and say their peace, and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I recently read a story about a boy who was born with an encephalocele and another defect, the doctors told his mother he wouldn't even make it out of the womb, nor would they be able to operate on it. And sure enough, he made it and after several surgeries, he's perfectly fine. It's stories like that that should give people hope to not give up on their little ones.

I mean, I would never, ever judge someone for making that choice. It's very, very personal IMO.

Myself, I just couldn't. There are probably reasons I would abort but I just can't name them off the top of my head.

Exactly.. to each her own. Some people don't feel they're strong enough to deal with a situation like that, and if that's the case then, by all means, do what you have to do because it is a LOT to deal with. A lot of stress, a lot of pain, and a lot of wondering, "Am I doing the right thing..?" I'm surprised I survived, really.

Right now, I would abort any pregnancy.
So my answer to this question at the moment is pretty biased.

I thought people were asleep during surgical abortions...

No I wouldn't. I wouldn't even if it was life threatening. In fact I didn't. My Isabella had T18. I had 2 wonderful hours with her. I still cry tell this day, but wouldd't change it for the world.

My brother born in 2006 also had T18 my mum carried him for as long as she could (her water broke at 26 weeks because of fluid) he was born at 34 weeks and we had 4 hours with him... i have so much respect for my parents and the strength they had to give him a chance.
Im sorry for your loss and im happy you had those few hours!

Depends on how bad it is. If it's something that will potentially put my family in debt over medical bills or special accommodations I probably would because I couldn't handle that. If it made no difference in the cost of raising the child or wouldn't cause any major issues I probably wouldn't. I don't see how a person's REASON for aborting makes them a less respectable person. That's just asinine.

if your referring to my post when you said about people being not respectable i would just like to point out that me having respect for my mum and dad and the strength they showed through the hardest time in their lives while dealing with the loss of a child is in no way saying that i think less of ppl who would have aborted. If you read my post earlier on you would see that under some circumstances i might.

I wasn't specifically referring to your post, but you did say it makes you physically sick that some people would abort over things like gender or a cleft lip. It may be a smurffy reason for you, but for some people they feel they have good reason to abort. Would *I* abort over that? No, not at all. But I'm not going to judge anyone for their reasons for aborting because if I ever needed an abortion I wouldn't want people criticizing my reasons and saying mine is more or less valid than another woman's.

I've heard doctors give some women this stuff to drink or a pill that apparently flushes the baby out of their system. I know one of my friends recently had a miscarriage and had to do that, but I still don't get how exactly it works.. does it come out while they're on the toilet..? Does it just come out as they're walking around throughout the day? I hope not, but I have no idea and I wasn't comfortable asking my friend how it worked. But I've heard they do the same for abortions as well. I dunno how true that is though..
