That could possibly be it. I don't see why this isn't getting coverage, especially with me being pretty close to where this is occurring. I'm actually pretty shocked that I'm just hearing about this and its been 5 days..

Yeah because every site I go to to find info it all mostly says that they aren't releasing to much info due to safety reasons, so I def think they are not telling us all.

I heard about it the day after, and I did a search thinking there was already a topic discussing it... and nope, nothing. I was like seriously, BG members dig up the most obscure articles about breastfeeding injustice, but a kid gets dragged off a school bus and no one knows anything?

This could go on for weeks. He apparently has food supplies for months.

This is happening local to me. Literally not too far up the road, as far as towns go. I'm so pissed that it's still going on. People are sharing updates from different FB pages, this was shared 5hours ago by a local radio station:

Sheriff Olson stated that they have an open line of communication with Mr Dykes...Ethan is being taken care of...he has blankets and a heater...they have been able to give him meds and toys and even stated he was able to watch tv....he even praised Mr dykes for taking care of Ethan....another news conference is scheduled for 930 pm

Okay seriously they're praising the kidnapper for taking such good care of the kidnap-ee. WTF. I'm all for the kid being treated well, but FFS come ON. Can someone just throw some knockout gas down the pipe they are communicating through, or something? I'm sorry, I just get frustrated because this is FIVE DAYS going on and still not resolved.

It's terrible. I pray he doesn't hurt that poor boy.

  I'm just thinking....how long until the poor kid is so far off his routine he has a meltdown? It's bound to happen if this goes on long enough. I just hope the guy is okay enough to deal with it when it happens.

I guess I get so upset, because my son is 4 and autistic and I guess I draw parallels between the two. I know my son can tolerate only so much before he just gets overwhelmed and melts down.

I would guess it's probably a better strategy than saying, "You're a terrible human being and you're doing a smurffy job."

Clearly this guy is not right in the head. He probably has the mentality of a child and children generally respond better to praise.

I guess. And like I said don't get me wrong I'm happy he is taking care of him so well. Just...damn. That's all I can say at this point lol.

Highly likely that they're thanking him so that he isn't set off by them pointing fingers and anger at him, KWIM? There's obviously something wrong with him, they need to handle it delicately so that he doesn't hurt that innocent child. They're being strategic.

Hopefully it's figured out soon, though and he isn't hurt. Parents must be freaking out. How sad.

They've been talking about it a lot on HLN(i watch it every day). This morning they kept putting emphasis on why the reason they are not releasing much info is because he has a t.v. and since he obviously has mental issues they dont want to say anything to the pubic that could upset him and set him off. We are just praying for the boy and his family and for that man to come to his senses. I couldn't imagine being in those parents shoes, especially with him having special needs and not knowing what my child is going through or if he's being properly taken care of per his special needs. I pray this comes to a safe end soon.

Would you rather they berate him, get him pissed off, and have him harm the boy?

same with the knockout gas. Which could 1, harm the kid, and two, piss the dude off if it fails.
