BH or contractions?

posted 2nd Feb
Can Braxton hicks make your stomach thight/hard like they say real contractions do. I've been having BH for almost an hour an yes they are a little stronger than usual and my tummy never gets thight/hard. I don't think they are timable just yet. TIA!

Another quick question!
When your stomach gets hard from a contraction, is it suppose to be the whole thing or is it a certain part of your stomach that does? Orbisbir different for everyone?

Mine seem to just be one part, but it's all the way across. Like... the top of my belly all the way across. I can tell they are BH and not the baby moving because I get out of breath, like the wind was knocked out of me for about 30 seconds to a minute. I think everyone is different though.

Honestly, I'd say it shoukd make the whole stomach hard. But honestly, idr... and idk how a non-pitocin induced contraction feels either. I'm guessing its different for everyone.

I'm on bed rest for preterm labor right now, so I'm turning into a Braxton hicks encyclopedia lol. Yes, they do make your abdomen tight and hard and can be pretty uncomfortable. I have an anterior placenta this pregnancy, but in the last one it would get so tight during BH that I could literally see the outline of my daughter through my skin and that was still considered normal. Basically the two tell tale signs that you need to pay close attention are when the tightening comes along with menstrual like cramps at the back or front, or when you have more than five an hour. My contractions rarely hurt, but I do have spurts of way more than five an hour and they actually were causing cervical change. I don't know how far along you are, but some times contractions before term won't hurt like you'd expect, so you should still pay attention to how frequently they come.

If they aren't painful and not close enough to time it sounds totally normal to me.

Drink some water and rest and they should go away. Also, changing positions can make them go away, like if you're sitting, stand up and walk. If walking makes them go away, it's probably a BH. If walking makes them worse, though, then it's probably a real contraction. Sometimes BH can actually make changes to your cervix and help with dilation though, and since you're so close, honestly I'd let 'em come. Lol. I don't try and make mine go away, because I'm so close to my due date, and if they are helping in dilation, I don't want them to go away! Lol

I feel them exactly how you describe them. The only thing is that they aren't unbearable and they aren't close together. Ill pay close attention though. I'm delivering c-section so my doctor tells me to keep Tract of them just incase if the real thing starts before the csection date   thanks!

^this. I didn't realize how far along you are. Probably just a good sign that you're almost there!

Lol. I totally see what you are saying! I was lying down and sat up and that's when I noticed they calmed down! However I'm starting to feel them again. Nothing biggy though.
