Has anyone ever had an IV infiltrate? Mine did a few days ago when I was in the hospital, well my hand was so swollen and the nurse said in 1-2 days it should be okay, well now my hand is going numb every now and then. Should I be worried?

Well from what my nurse said it's where all the fluid just goes into your arm/hand or where your IV is. It stays there and makes that part of the body swollen. Basically my IV went bad and I think it ended up hurting the vein it was in.

Like u were just on regular iv fluids? I had a couple of my Saline locks go bad while I was hospitalized. When They would flush it the saline would seep out under my skin. But I wasn't on an iv fluid so it didn't build up. But I'd assume it would build up if I had been on on one. It should disperse and go away soon.

Your body will just absorb the fluid. Any irritation it cause to the tissue in there should go away in less than a week.

Yep I was on regular fluids for severe dehydration and to help with whatever is wrong with my liver.

Thank you! My hand is still swollen and numb, at first when the nurse realized the IV infiltrated I was trying to rub my eye cause I was sleepy. Well when I brought my hand close to my face I like lost control of my hand and bopped myself in the face.

It feels very weird
