Meal ideas?
posted 2nd Feb
I need breakfast and lunch ideas for my 12 month old, she has one tooth and eats a variety of foods but she is starting to refuse some things. I feel like she is eating too many foods like animal crackers and not real fruits and vegetables. She won't eat cheese or eggs and the list seems to be growing. I just want to make her healthy meals that offer good nutrition, I'm on a budget and have found myself feeding cheaper, processed junk more and want to improve.

Maybe pancakes, waffles, or toast (all can be made whole wheat), with fresh fruit(like bananas or pears) or applesauce? My LO loves applesauce for breakfast.(:
And for lunch, pasta, veggies, and fruit?
My LO doesn't like much meat, so we try to sub with eggs or something. When she was around that age, though, I would chop her up like fresh deli meat and she loved it. Also, you could try the mozzarella cheese sticks to try to get her to eat cheese.

Try string cheese! When it comes to breakfast I usually just give Cheerios or mandarin oranges in the Dole cups with no sugar added.
My son loves hot dogs, Mac n cheese, lunchables, Gerber ravioli's and lil entrees (they're kind of expensive tho)

She will not eat string cheese either, she use to love cheese I don't know what happened
I did get her to eat some yogurt today though!
This is her typical day, I'm just worried about making sure she is eating alright and not eating too much "junk" food?
Breakfast: (one of these usually)
Oatmeal with fruit
Cereal with milk
Fruit cup or fresh fruit with a few animal crackers, graham crackers, dry cereal or a cereal bar
With a serving of milk
Snack: (usually one of these_
Peanut butter crackers
Gerber snacks
Animal Crackers
Fruit
served with 100% fruit juice watered down
Lunch: (one of these)
Soup
Leftover supper (usually 1-2 veggies, 1 meat and 1 starch)
Fruit and crackers or dry cereal
Chicken nuggets and a veggie like green beans or broccoli
Served with milk or juice
Snack: (one of these)
Fresh fruit
Muffin
Dry cereal
Animal Crackers
Wafers
Dinner:
Either pasta and a veggie, maybe toast
1 meat (mostly Chicken or fish) 1-2 veggies, rice, bread, noodles or potatoes
Served with milk or juice
I also give her water throughout the day
Is this okay? When she has snack I only give her like 2-3 crackers or whatever I want to give her healthier snacks and choices. She use to eat ANYTHING and the last two weeks she won't eat
Cheese
Hot dogs or lunch meat and she refused ground beef and roast beef for dinner the last two nights. Actually she refused dinner almost completely last night (even mashed potatoes which she usually loves)
Hubby got her to eat some eggs today, maybe she is coming around to that, I just want to make sure she is getting enough nutrition.

Sounds about normal to me lol My son snacks most of the day...Most of the snacks you listed are actually pretty healthy for her. If you having issues with her eating meats try giving her Gerber ravioli's or lil entrees.
