not liking our cat right now!

I've never been a cat person, but ever since we moved in with SO's parents, the damn cat seems to be shedding everywhere! I absolutely hate it! She usually always stays out of the living room, and where we are and I rarely ever see her around. But right now she's in heat. and seems to be loooooooving being around people.

What comes along with the cat, is the cat hair. I vacuum every single day, sometimes twice a day just because I'm neurotic and like my apartment clean. but MIL/FIL's room always has hair everywhere on the carpet! (FYI we live in the basement apartment of SO's parents house)

anyone have any good suggestions on vacuums that are superb on pet hair? I'm looking into a dyson at Costco.

brush your cat twice a day and it will really help

I have a Bissell that is made for pet hair and mydog sheds like crazy seems to pick it all up paid 150 for it at walmart and its bagless

ok thanks girls! we have a plain old vacuum right now from walmart, nothing special. As often as I vacuum it feels like she sneaks back into out apartment somehow and sheds everywhere! I've never had this problem with her in all 8 months of living here!

do they tend to shed a lot more in the winter?

just a cat brush, lol. they are in the pet aisle. we have a long haired kitten and omg if i didnt brush him daily, we'd be covered in his hair

oh god I wish! but it's not my cat nor my house to say that   SO looooooooves the cat! it was his first pet or some smurf like that. I'm just not a cat person at all! or really a pet person! lol luckily she stays outside a lot, or hides and I never see her.

I'm not either.... I think cats are a waste of space, I'd never keep one in my home..... But when I'm at someone elses house I'll pet them and they don't really bother me. I'm allergic to them though so I have a valid excuse to not like them

So is SO and his mom. I don't get why they have her. Waste of money on all the food they have to buy and the time and energy spent cleaning up her damn hair.

We have the Dyson "Pet" vacume. I love it, it really sucks! wocka wocka

I'm not a pet person at all, I dislike Cats and i can't stand pet hair. I personally would get rid of the cat.

same here! ugh i soooo wish I could!

I have a long haired indoor cat and have no problem at all with her hair. I brush her everyday and hoover every other day with a dyson. We have wooden floors downstairs which I find easier to clean. I also use a brush called a furminator and it takes out the lower cat hair too not just the top lot.

She is not allowed in LO's bedroom, she spends the day upstairs and the evening with us as she does not really like being in the same room as LO as he is a bit rough with her.

I understand you not liking the cat but for myself my cat is part of our family, she was here before LO came and no way would I get rid of her.

oh I totally understand why SO wouldn't want to get rid of her. It was his first pet, and he loves her. I'm just in no way shape or form a cat person so I'm trying to deal with the hair. I never let her in LO's room and I try my hardest to keep our door closed so she doesn't get it. But she's damn quick and sneaky! And since she's been in heat the last few days, I think it's the most I've seen her in 3-4 months. For some reason she's just taking a liking to ME and won't leave my legs alone and keeps rubbing up on me. It's so weird! haha

I could never ask SO to get rid of her, and i never would ask that. just totally sucks being a non-pet lover and your SO being obsessed with his cat.
