Croup.

my daughter has croup. and shes a mess. she wont sleep, cause she constantly is coughing and then throwing up. Any tips anyone can throw at me would be great! She is on steriods. and i do the humidifier.

Do you do the frequent temp change? My son had it, I took him to the ER, they gave two differnt breathing treatments and a steriod injection. When we were sent home they said walks out in the cold air help the inflamation of the throat and to alternate between the cold walks and steamy showers. Of course dont forget to bundle up in the cold

Super steamy bathroom and just sit in there with her, and bundle her up and stand in front of the freezer with her. Both of those will soothe the swelling (which is what croup does) also did they give you a nebulizer?

hm the doc did not tell me this. only if she had trouble breathing i should bring her out. how often should i do this?

When the couging is really bad, maybe just step outside for a few mins...does she still have that sharp sounding "Seal Barking" cough?

Did you go to the ER or a pedi? I had to go to his pedi to get a nebulizer. We ended up being ambulanced to the hospital because my son stopped breathing twice and I had to do CPR. He got two epinephrine breathing treatments in the ambulance, a steroid shot at the hospital, xrays, and another breathing treatment. His was a very severe case. The pedi gave us oral steroids and a nebulizer with some albuterol.

My son was on a ten day supply. So I'd assume it's not as severe of a case (no offense, I know a sick baby is scary) but yes alternate the shower and freezer. And how old is she? Try to cut out milk if you can, like real milk. Not formula or breast milk. Real milk will make her mucous thick and since her throat is already swollen it'll make it hard to swallow.

shes almost 16 months. i had it when i was 7 and i remember not being able to breathe. yesterday she wouldnt drink anything. today she has already had 4 ups of juice! thanks for your help ill be doing the rotating temps.
