I have nothing against leashes. To each their own. I used one for my daughter when she was small.

However, I should relate a thing that happened last year that enforced my belief if used correctly a leash can be a life saver.

While I was about 6 months pregnant, my parents took me to one of my check ups. SO was working and I didn't wanna go alone. My parents decided they'd stay in the car and wait. While I was in with my visit, this lady came out with a little boy about 3 years old and carrying a infant carrier with her 3 month old girl. My dad watched the whole thing unfold and tried his best to help the lady out. She was holding his hand and he jerked away from her. From that point he darted across the parking lot. The parking lot was setup in a way of roadway, parking space, parking space, roadway then a parking space with a fence on the back. He ran thru that whole section of parking spaces to the fence then proceeded to run along the fence.

I have to say that luck was on their side at the time because there wasn't any traffic. People coming in that clinic do not take it slowly. My dad being up in age did his best trying to run the kid down but not before they were all on the verge of having heart attacks. The mother was screaming, crying and trying to chase him while carrying that car seat.

She finally got him into the car and after she strapped him in, she went around to get started to put the other carrier in place properly. My dad could only watch as the little boy managed to undo his straps and then lock the car door with her keys inside! My dad had to pretend to call the police to get the little guy to unlock the doors.

That poor mother could have used a leash that day for hanging on to him after he broke free of her hand. Though I'm sure she never left her keys on the seat again after that. At least I hope not.

that is crazy! but...she should have been holding HIS hand not letting him hold hers. or could have been wearing the baby instead of carrying her. thats what IIIIII my self would have done. im not a leash user but i see how she maybe should have used one if she couldnt control the situation in another way.

Sadly in this area of VA you never see anyone baby wearing. In whole life, I can only recall seeing it 3 times and my SO was one of the times.

I'm not going to say how it was on the hand being held since I didn't see it. I know my daughter had a tendency to twist and whatever to break free when I held hers. Sometimes they can jerk hard enough or twist the right way and break your grip on them. It was one of the reasons I used a leash since I felt like I was breaking her hand to keep a hold on her.

Some times they get away faster than we expected.
