I had my DH put on a watch last night too. He cut his wrist.

It took me a long time to decide to call, for that reason. I thought, with it being the 2nd, maybe we could work through it. Since we have a common grief today. But he was just being unreasonable and it was "suicide, suicide, suicide". I really can't believe they didn't take him. Especially since he said it directly to the officer's face.

They should not have left him

I would actually call and speak to the officers bosses. If he DOES try to kill himself, that would open the door for a major lawsuit.

You should try to find a crisis center in your area. They will come get him and put him on a hold.

No, honestly he's like this all the time. But, I'm sure the anniversary today helped make it worse.

Yeah, it sucks. They won't take someone over 18 unless they are willing to go.

My 32 year old brother laid down in the middle of the road and almost got hit by a truck going 70mph, my mom got him out of the way just in time. The police actually pulled up as it was happening and they still didn't make him go.

I've never heard of anyone telling a cop they are suicidal and then being able to stay home

When I was put into a psych hold, it was either I went on my own accord or I was cuffed and forced into the ambulance. No choice.

Here, once someone calls the police for a suicidal person, that person go to the hospital no matter what. There is no choice

That's what I thought would happen. I thought it was flat out required that the take him in. If he'd said "Oh, no I'm fine" and it was just his word against mine, I'd have understood. But he didn't.

SO tried to kill himself about a year ago and when the police were called he was given the option of going but he was told it want mandatory and that he couldn't be forced.
