Quoting Rain (aka Mama):" “A peace officer may take any person to a physician within the county or an adjoining county for emergency ... [snip!] ... that the person is a „mentally ill person requiring involuntary treatment‟.” This is all I was able to find on it. "
Absolutely. When I was misdiagnosed as bipolar and they had me on a crap ton of meds, I got suicidal. My DH called the police and they did not give me a choice. They drug me to the mental hospital in downtown Phoenix for a Psych eval. I spent two weeks in there being monitored and getting my medication right. Found out I was not bipolar, just have GAD and Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia.
If the Officer knows for sure that the person threatened to kill themselves ( which you had it on tape) not to mention, he admitted it. They should have took him. They would have been ( or should have been) liable if something happened to him. Good luck Mama, to your DH as well. I know this is hard, but it is harder on him than it is on you....believe it or not.
