xray when 39 weeks pregnant

posted 2nd Feb
so i have been really sick since before xmas. Took a number of antibiotics and inhaler etc. Im still so sick can't breath and have a horrible dry cough and if i cough hard enough i cough phlem and almost throw up   . So my last resort from the doctor is to get a chest xray. How safe are they. i have a week until my due date so my baby's developed. could it cause any harm to the Bbbaby at this point ib pregnancy. Im worried i will have a hard time pushing during labor if i can.hardly catch my breath just talking.
thoughts and experience on xrays
im only considering because i m seriously worried about my health.

It should be fine. They'll cover your belly with lead vests.

It will not do anything at all to the baby and it will help you. They can put lead aprons around your tummy and back (make sure they do this) but they will have to hang a bit low because they need to get all of your lungs on the xray or they will have to repeat it.

I had to get a CT scan when I was pregnant or my daughter and I could have both died. So an Xray should be okay.

That's a tough choice. I would definitely weigh the pros and cons with your doctor. X-rays really aren't as much radiation as you think they are. I had an ER doc explain to me that 1 CT scan is equal to 100 x-rays and you are safe for 3 CT's in your life (although most people that need them get more). I'm no doctor, but I would imagine that being so far along it would be similar to the baby needing an x-ray as a newborn. If your doctor is willing to do it, it must not be too harmful.

Normally drs say if the benefits outweigh the risks, it's ok to be treated. They probably wouldn't suggest it if they didn't think you really needed it.

Hello, I have several probally close to 30 x rays and I am 26 weeks along. I was in a bad car accident with a DUI that hit me. They say xrays do not hurt the baby. you need thousands to really be exposed to the damage

You're exposed to more radiation from walking out in the sun or using your microwave. You and baby will be alright and they'll cover your body with a lead apron.

you will be fine most likely being this far along and it being one only plus make sure they use a lead apron and such and you will very safe at this point I would be more worried you have phenomia around the time of delivery than the xray at this point because you need the oxygen anyway for you little one much less while delivering or if you had a csection etc. it could really make things hard I hope you feel better hun and just make sure they do proper safety like a lead curtain or apron for the slight risk that could be there tho and its good to have that anyway just incase they end up doing more later once your baby is born it protects you from risks
