I don't know you. Your child isn't related to me, so to be honest, I don't care what you did and didn't do during your pregnancy. I was talking about my brother in law's girlfriend that is pregnant with my nephew.

Also, I don't know about where you live, but where I live weed isn't legal, and a physician HERE wouldn't recommend doing anything that was illegal, pregnant or not. Medical marijuana is also not legal here.

She has mentioned that she knows she should stop, and she has said she is going to stop once she is 6 months. Why at 6 months, I don't know? She has also said that her nausea "as in she isn't vomiting" isn't as bad as it was during her first trimester.

I live in Virginia where it's also illegal and I know a few women who were told by their doctors to continue smoking it if it helps with nausea/morning sickness and as long as it isn't a constant thing.

From a safety standpoint, I don't think it is any different than taking herbs and supplements that haven't been studied enough to know whether or not it's safe during pregnancy. After I found out my daughter's heart defects were developmental, I was afraid to take tylenol during my pregnancy with my second daughter though.

I personally know two moms with sons who did it continuously through out the day for the entire pregnancy only because they were previous smokers. Both sons we believe aren't developing like they should. At 4 years of age they haven't learned any words. Their friend did the same because they said their sons were fine so we'll see how her son does when he gets that age.

I personally wouldn't do it. I was smoking cigarettes but what quit cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant.

I am an avid pot-smoker. I fully support legalizing marijuana on a federal level (although I doubt that will happen), I did smoke when I was pregnant with my first child thinking it wouldn't affect the baby any and blah blah.. but my daughter has ADHD and some behavioral problems as well. The doctor said some are contributed to high stress levels during pregnancy (I was young, and going through a LOT of smurf with the father) but some of it was because I SMOKED the weed. as I got farther along it also inhibited my breathing slightly . I was already big and having trouble with the breathing due to where the baby was residing, but smoking would just increase it. I advise any woman wanting to smoke weed, to either vape or make edibles, it's less harmful to your lungs, fetus, and all around future development of that fetus.

Also, as I said a lot was contributed to the high stress levels I had while pregnant with her. It has more of an impact than you would think. I now have 3 children with my 4th on the way, and I've not smoked weed with the others and have had less stressful pregnancies and my other 2 are mild mannered, well behaved, no ADHD or behavior issues at all.

It may not seem like it, but these are definitely things to consider when you're doing something to your body because its not just your body/mind your affecting. I support marijuana, I support vaping/edibles, I do not support smoking it while pregnant..its less risky than pharmaceuticals but still has side effects that i wouldn't want to put on an unborn baby.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We tend to be naive during our first pregnancies, not knowing how even stress can affect the baby. I was. I never thought I would have a child with a defect. It's difficult not to blame yourself when something is wrong with your child, whether physical, developmental, or behavioral. The parents that have healthy children, especially the parents that risk their child's health in any way, are very fortunate.
