Hello everyone. I have a few questions im hoping someone can help me out with. I was pregnant with my daughter up till Nov. I delivered her at 21 weeks on Nov.6th 2012 she was a stillborn. Her heart stopped and the doctors do not know why. Well I had to have a D&C done the morning I delivered her because I could not deliver the afterbirth. I bled (sorry if T.M.I) all the way up untill Jan. and the doctors kept telling me I was having my period. Well come to find out there was still part of the placenta left in my uterus so he had to do another D&C with suction on Jan.18th. I bled for 10 days but at first it was really light. after a few days it got heavy then stopped. I was wondering if its possible that was my period or if i could have ouvlated because I am having some pregnancy symptoms (so i think it could also be me getting my hopes up). But me and my S.O have had unprotected sex A LOT!!! and i did take a test it was negative but im not sure if i tested too soon. i had positive ovulation tests 2 days in a row. Now i know your not suppose to rely on those as HPT's and im not im just wondering if I could be pregnant if it is possible but too early to tell on a test. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much
Pregnancy is definitely a possibility at this point. You should test very few days for the next couple of weeks. That's terrible to hear about the loss of your baby. I am so sorry this happened.
About the placental retention- I had the joy of going through this with my first daughter. I delivered a softball sized piece of placenta and the hospital was so worried about a lawsuit that they told me it was an encapsulated twin rather than admitting that they had not checks to see if my placenta was intact. It was sooooo much fun to go into labor again. Wish I'd sued their asses after I demanded a laboratory test, and after I demanded the results that they never gave me on their own accord. But I was too happy to hear it wasn't a twin, so I didn't do anything which I now regret. You can literally die from this! I had a serious fever, chills, shaking, nausea, and the pain was intense.
After expelling the rest of my placenta, my periods returned within three weeks.
As you just finished expulsion in January, I'm not trying to butt in, but I would really recommend only having protected sex for at least the next few months. Your body really needs to heal!
Thank you to everyone..yeah im sure it is to early i just wanted it to be so bad. my dr told me after the last d&c to try and wait 1 cycle but said i didnt have to he just recommends it. i have a little nephew that was born on 1/26/13 and it has made me realize how much i want to be a mother. safka9973 im sorry to hear that you went through part of what i did its terrible. i have to go back to my doc on the 12th so ill ask him then i just didnt want to wait that long with all these questions i have and no answers to them. im kinda impatient lol.
