how can I get my baby to drop? 37 weeks dilated to a 3!
posted 2nd Feb
I'm 37 weeks 3 days and as of Wednesday I'm 50% efaced and dilated to a 3! My doctor says he weighs about 6lbs 14oz but that he needed to drop a little more. I was so excited that I was dilating that I didn't even ask how to get the baby to move down! Has anyone else had this problem? And how can I get him to move down? I'm ready to have this baby!

Just because you're ready doesn't mean the baby is. Just wait. A lot of women don't "drop" til labor, just like a lot of women don't dilate til labor. Some women "drop" and dilate to a 4 a month before labor. Every pregnancy and delivery is different and there isn't anything you can do to get your kid to "drop" until they are good and ready to.

If I didn't think he was ready I would not have asked and would definitely be keeping it easy just in case.. My doctor said "hopefully I'll see you this weekend before that baby gets too big" because I have a very small frame. and you're right I walked around dilated to a 4 for 3 1/2 weeks with my first. My doctor has assured me that baby is perfectly healthy and ready to come into the world.

Baby will come when baby is ready. Nothing you can do about it.

Thank you!! I have had 2 super fast births and no epidural with either. I just want to have the same experience this time and not be in labor 63 hours because the baby hasn't dropped! lol

Okay, I'm not trying to have this baby tonight or put myself into labor. I just was just wondering how to get my baby to drop just in case it happened. because just like you said "baby will come when baby is ready" Im just trying to make the labor a little easier on myself for when It does happen, naturally.

Thank you girl! I will definitely try that! Because the last thing I want to do in full blown labor is squats and rocking my hips! Im sure that was very uncomfortable, which is why I'm just tryin to start the process!! Lmao

O girl try the squats while in labor it feel way better then laying in bed r even a birthing ball to bounce on it take some of the pain away and helps bring baby down..before labor starts and during labor..try it I did wit my last baby was so much better then being in bed..

you can't do a damn thing. You're not due for another 3 weeks and you could possibly go another 2. Being dilated and thinned doesn't mean anything.
I walked into the hospital 10 days past due, 5 cm 100% effaced and not contracting.

Squats. That's the only thing that makes sense. But baby will drop on their time :/ I'm sorry mama you don't need to freak out he's only 6 lbs. Lol how much bigger are you expecting 7 lbs is still considered pretty small, and the mama pretty lucky lol.

I would just wait it out honostly, my oldest was born at 37 weeks and he was 6lbs 4 oz and we had to fight with a very bad bout of jaundice. He was sent home with a light for 7 days then at 10 days he was hospitalized for it. NOT FUN.

Again, I am NOT trying to put myself into labor, I know when my due date is, my husband is not even in town this week because of work. having this baby is not what I want to do right now..
I asked "how can I help my baby drop?" thank you for all your opinions but I asked a question. Thank you to the ladies that answered them
And for those that said there's not a thing I could do about it, my doctor says otherwise.
And also like I said, I have 2 older daughters I gave birth too. I know I can go on for weeks dilated and thinned out. My doctor said baby needed to drop a little.. geezus!
last time I ask a question on baby gaga!
