Could it be the diapers?
posted 1st Feb
My 14.5 month old has had a diaper rash for a LONG time. I've taken him to the doctor and showed him. He said its just a regular rash and to just put sudocream on it.
The isn't working. His entire bum is red and dry. My mom mentioned that maybe something in his urine is acidic and irritating him. I'm thinking that maybe hes developed an allergy to the diapers? I'm going to try new ones tomorrow when we go shopping. He's in pampers cruisers right now.
Has anyone solved a problem like this by switching diapers? It doesn't seem to bother him, but it bothers me!

Have you stripped the diapers lately? What style are they?

Duh, in my head I assumed it was about cloth. Sheesh, I'm tired.

Have I switched?
No, but he was in pampers swaddlers before, then advanced to cruisers. He's now in size 4s (cruisers start at 3) so he's been in them a while, but he's had the rash a while as well. I'm not 100% sure when it started.

I don't know anything about cloth to be honest.

My daughter has really sensitive skin and regular diapers really irritate her bum. We switched to the 7th generation diapers (they are chlorine-free, dye-free, and unscented) and it has helped a ton. We also try to give her some time out of a diaper altogether during the day, just an hour or so to let it get some air. Lettin her soak in a tub of clean water or an oatmeal bath also helps. And we use aveeno baby eczema treatment lotion. Good luck I hope it gets better soon.

My oldest had similar issues with Luvs. As soon as I switched the rash cleared up....I few months later I tried Luvs again thinking it was just coincidence and the rash came back...so its definitely possible..

Sorry about that, I'm really out of it today. Ignore my other posts. I'd missed the parts about Pampers and all that for some reason. Anyway, yes I've had problems with my girls in certain brands of diaper. Luvs were the worst for us.

My son got a red and dry diaper rash from using diapers with scent in them. We switched to Huggies Pure and Natural, and LOVE them.
Also, if by chance you're breastfeeding, putting milk on his rash will totally help.

Cruisers broke my son's butt out and I had to switch!

If u weren't opposed and had some extra up front $ it's worth it. I wouldn't mind helping u find an option that works best for you and your situation.

Glad to hear switching helped. I'm going to try Target brand diapers tomorrow. Everyone told me that they're closest to pampers. I wonder if they have a scent free option. If not, I'll try the Huggies.
Thanks ladies!
