Just do it. Force yourself into the mindset, that everything is going to be okay. If you can't get therapy or meds.. that's your only option.

I can't anymore. Just writing this made me sick to my.stomach and it's the same every time I get in the car.

I use to be super scared to drive. My husband tried to teach me but I was SO nervous, it didn't work out. I paid a professional for 2 hours of lessons and it made a huge difference. I drive like a maniac now

this. The only other option is therapy, which you said is not a option, so bite the bullet and just go places. take deep breathes, close your eyes, maybe try a calming CD.

Have you ever looked into like meditation or something? Perhaps learning to control your breathing, and be in tune with your body could help your anxiety.

Meditation/deep breathing are good options.

Start with short trips (15-20 min tops) and slowly work your way up to longer trips.

I can't even concentrate on meditation because I'm so paranoid. It just sucks because my anxiety in general is so much better but getting back in the Explorer makes me sick. I asked DH if we could just sell it and he said no

I can do 20-25 minute trips on back roads or familiar roads and be okay.

Why can't you go to therapy? I'm not trying to be insensitive, but I'm assuming that being able to "get better" is going to take what feels like risk on your part. If you turn down every option, or don't try, I don't think you'll ever be able to live the life you want to. I hope that doesn't sound wrong.

Do the meditation/deep breathing daily, not just when you HAVE to be in the vehicle. When you are in the car, try to find things to take our mind off being in the vehicle such as reading or even listening to music on headphones.

Is it only in your vehicle or just trips in general?

Is it the new areas that give you anxiety? What is it exactly, do you know?

It's long/unfamiliar trips in our vehicle. I'm fine in other cars.

Would trading in your car help? You said your SO is unwilling to do that (I may have read wrong..) why would he want to keep you in that if it made you uncomfortable?
