There's an app for that...?

posted 1st Feb
As I sit here eating girl scout cookies, I'm wondering what app I can use for counting calories, fat, etc.

I would like free, easy to navigate, and as helpful as possible. I am feddddd up!

Also, did you ever feel so lonely and pathetic that you literally just wanted someone to think you were pretty and be in love with you? I'm feeling extra down tonight. I'm in a relationship, but I still don't have those things and I'm lonely. Any tips to subside those feelings?

Thanks. And me too. I know it sounds silly, but I've NEVER been on a real date. I've had boyfriends and long term ones at that, but we never went on dates. I want to feel butterflies. I just want to feel...special.

As for depressive thoughts, You have to learn to love yourself. Don't let the things you hate about yourself ruin what is good. I know, easier said than done, though. I have been meditating a lot and it's helped a lot. I got a book that is 8 weeks long and I am only 1 week in and it's already changing my life. It goes along with meditation, I can get you the link to download it for free if you have an ereader (and if you don't have an ereader you can get a kindle app for your computer, phone, tablet, or laptop for free).

I also liked a bunch of positive thinking pages on FB, it helps you feel better when your feed is full of positive things vs the usual drama.

Yes, please link me. Or at least give me the name of the book. I don't have an ereader. My main downfall is the way I look. I tend to be the I'm-just-going-to-sulk-in-my-own-misery-rather-than-be-motivated type, so I need to change that.

I was that way and it was hard to break. I have lost 80 lbs and that has helped, but I have worked hard on trying to change my attitude towards life and it's helped more than anything. I never want to be over 300 lbs again, but I am happy with myself no matter what the scale says or how many rolls I have under my clothes. That didn't come over night but I'm getting better every day. I've suffered from depression since I was a child.

Here's the link where you can download (look for the thing on the left that says "download epub". You have to convert if you use a kindle app, or I can e-mail the correct format for kindle if you want. http://tuebl.ca/book/show/id/39120

If you'd rather buy the book you can get it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Mindfulness-Eight-Week-Finding-Peace-Frantic/dp/1609618955/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359769166&sr=1-1&keywords=mindfulness

Yes, I'll probably buy the book. I have no idea how that other stuff works. lol

How were you able to change your thinking? Did you have any mantra's you followed or anything? Certain things you did to turn your negative, unmotivated thoughts around?

when you start thinking negative thoughts immediately change it to something positive. The longer you dwell on negative, the more negative you feel. You have to retrain your brain to just not let that crap matter. I got tired of living in survivial mode from one blow to the next, I finally just accepted that tough things happen, and I try to see them as "what can I learn from this" vs "why is this happening". I also don't let people walk on me now. Again this is all easier said than done, it's definitely a journey, but I feel better. I also try to focus my energy towards something positive when I'm upset. I can't control what's going on, but I try to help others, volunteer, donate, support others, etc. It gives me something good to work with and put my focus on, and it makes me feel better.

as an example, today I sent a few of my friends some pregnancy tests in the mail (they are TTC). I had them left over, I don't need them, but I know it will be benificial to them. I didn't tell them it was coming because I want them to open their mail and get a surprise. I am also doing a give away on my weight loss page on FB for a free work out DVD. It will cost me about $7, but all day long every time someone signs up and I get a notification I get excited. I also asked that everyone that puts in an entry to "pay it forward" and do a good deed for someone else. I'm up to almost 190 entries, and it feels good that not only am I doing a good deed and helping someone, but down the line 190 other people are being helped. It gave me something positive to think about all day today. And tomorrow I will be volunteering at the local no kill animal shelter. Sure I don't want to scoop poop or whatever they put me through, but it's better than sitting and watching tv all day. My life matters to someone this way, even if it's just a cat that has a clean place to poop.

That's great! I really need to work on my attitude. I want so badly to live a positive life, but not only towards others, towards myself as well. I think I just have to push myself.
