re: Tipping at restaurants D&D

That is how that works?   I don't think most people realize that. I didn't. I kind of thought they'd let you actually get it.

I don't know if it's like that at all restaurants, but everywhere I worked, no, you don't get cash for that tip. It's basically the same as someone giving you a $2 (or however much was less) gift card to the restaurant.

I had no idea. We did that once because we thought they got to keep it. I feel like such a jerk now.

i work at pizza hut, and we get the cash. But we bring all our tips home every night including credit card tips, and I know most restaurants around here put credit card tips on the paycheck.

To be fair they were broke college kids, I assume anyway, since I have a few classes with the girl and went to high school with her boyfriend.
But still, they could've just gotten carry out.

It depends where you go. I just told the other poster that I work at pizza hut and if someone tips on a gift card we take home the amount not a restaurant credit.

Oh well, I go into work expecting a few people to tip smurf and then a few to tip awesome, it usually balances out. Usually. lol

I feel less guilty, thank you! I'll remember that for now on though, I never knew that. We're generally good tippers, so to think we stiffed someone makes me feel bad. My mom served tables in order to provide for us, so I tend to have a soft spot for it.

I've always been a good tipper. I like going out to eat, but I feel guilty having someone else do all the work, if that makes any sense at all. And I tip super generously if it's delivery in bad weather.
I can't believe the tips our drivers get sometimes. Last snowstorm I asked a driver how people tip in this weather and he said the last four deliveries he made didn't tip anything at all.

I just ordered pizza and tipped pretty darn well! Now if only it would get here....
