Dr who shrug off symptoms...

posted 1st Feb
I have a new OB from my first prenatal appointment due to a move, and thank goodness I will be getting another new one when we move again next month (Army family). This Doctor I saw today I really didn't like. I had a lot of problems in my first pregnancy and when those same symptoms started last week, I decided to keep a record of when it happened, pain scale and what I did to try to relax it. He has all my past medical records so he knows my background, and the head RN was concerned and said I deff need to go over it with him when he saw me and she handed me a paper with things to call if I experience any of them (well 3 of them I've already had!) and thats why she was concerned as well. Go figure, this DR completely shrugged it off... WTF?! The RN was sure he'd at least check me and possibly send me for an ultrasound so not to be concerned if he did. Which considering I'm having pelvic pain and pressure with braxton hixs, I would have been relieved to see he cared at leas tto check me... but nope! He came in and talked, avoided my concerns when I brought them up; said you may need more water -I told him all I drink is water AND my health nut of a husband was sitting there with me agreeing that I drink more than enough water. He also acted like I was stupid for thinking I was having braxton hixs so early -yes I know not the usual, I've been here before!!!   But he did not take me seriously at all! I'm just so glad in another month and a half I will have a diff Dr if I can just get there safely from here... Anyone else have crappy listening Dr? I know my old Dr would be ready to go rounds with this guy -he was with me throughout my first and was already on higher alert with this one as well. My husband is with me on this, just take it easy and make it to the next location!

Yeah, it's a good thing you're getting a new doctor next month smh. I hate when Doctor's do that, just brush off what you say is going on. That isn't right. You know what's going on with your body. Just try and take it easy, hon. Good luck with the pregnancy, btw.

I feel your pain    i'm being "cared for" on a naval base and i HATE HATE HATE how the doctors act.... they always make it seem as though my concerns aren't warranted & that they can take care of me... even after explaining my first son being stillborn, second being preemie.. along with my preterm labor issues and i/c they still think they can handle me... i hate tricare sometimes with how they work that you can't always choose who you want

Check into getting Tricare Standard instead of Tricare Prime! That's what I did so I can see whatever Dr I choose off post. I loved my primary caregiver and stuck with him the past 3 years but the OB is who I'm glad I get to change! My daughter is also on Standard and it makes it much easier traveling back home for visits when no where there accepts Prime but they do standard.

This is why I never go to see male OB's. Every male OB i've been to acts like my pains are sooo exaggerated.

I've heard several women say that. For me personally my first OB who I saw during my first pregnancy was male and wonderful! Of course he treated me like his office pet pick. I wish all could be just like him!

i started having BH at 16 weeks. it is normal.

OBs usually do things to cover their ass if they suspect that something is actually wrong with you - half the time even if they don't. try calling the office and mentioning it again when you get home if you are concerned. let him know about whatever happened to you in the past and that you are experiencing the same symptoms. they don't review your records before every appointment so he may not have realized it.
