White patches on throat

posted 1st Feb
I'm 36.5 weeks pregnant. Starting last night I noticed my throat was a little sore but assumed it was nothing. Compared to my BH contractions and pain/pressure on my cervix, I wasn't really paying much attention to my throat. Well today it gradually got worse (throat pain). I tried calling my OB's office and they are closed. It's pretty difficult eating but I'm forcing myself to drink plenty of water. The pain is tolerable but it's a little uncomfortable. Is this L&D or Urgent Care worthy? Or would it be okay to wait it out until Monday morning? If I weren't pregnant then I'd honestly just wait until Monday but not sure what to do about white patches on my throat this late in pregnancy. TIA

Likely strep. Extremely contagious and antibiotics are needed. If you can still manage to get to Urgent Care, do so. Otherwise, ER.

And I wouldn't put it off, it happens rarely so don't freak out but when I was 14 my Mom put off taking me to the Dr for strep and it turned into an infection called Erosive Pharyngitis. It was a highly unpleasant experience and ate away at my tonsils causing blood to pool in my throat while I was sleeping. I was gagging on blood clots at the hospital. Go to a clinic and get meds.

Well poop. I have no other symptoms other than a sore throat. Can that still be strep? I'm just starting dinner for the family so after I feed my DD, I'll head to Urgent Care.

Yes, the only symptoms for strep are sore throat, white patches and often a fever. Not always though, I've never had a fever with strep but my kids have.

Well the good news is is that it's not strep but canker sores on the back of my tongue and throat. Multiple canker sores in the back of my throat, wtf. I have only had one at a time on the sides of my mouth, never in the back of my throat. So weird. I'm glad I went though. Better to be safe than sorry!

glad it was not strep. I'm sure it's still painful. Hope you feel better, soon!
