I was thinking the same thing. When I cook for a get together, I get frustrated when people try to take over my kitchen by trying to put their own twist on my dishes. So to avoid that, I usually just ask people to bring a dish. I mean they are more than welcome to use my kitchen to prep it. But to be honest if someone told me what to make, how to make it and to be there at a certain time so I could make it. Not going to lie, I would probably just show up with something minimal like a bag of popcorn or something.

Smurf, I don't know... but i'm coming to your place!!!  

This is what happens to me when I watch the Food Network.
They've been having tailgater specials for the past two weeks.
I turned it on today and almost changed my menu!

We aren't either, but we have to pick my son up from crazy town. DH makes me go with him because he wants a witness to whatever crazy she will pull. I'm the backup camera man,lolz. Oh, the joy of custody battles with psychos.

So yeh, we have to leave. But they are all very close friends of ours and are expecting us to leave. I've actually had a couple of th watch my girls in the past when we have had to leave for pickups.

Completely understandable. Please forgive me if anything I said sounded accusatory. (I promise, not my intentions, sometimes my wording comes out completely wrong, and can be easily misinterpreted.)

If they are close and trusted friends and family, why not leave your LO's at home? This way they can play with the other kids. They will be so busy having fun they probably wouldn't even notice you guys had left.

That thought never even crossed my mind to be honest. I think it would be WAYYYY different if you were inviting just random friends for a get together.. It's completely different when someone has their closest friends and family who are comfortable enough to know that they can help themselves to anything without having to be told to do so. That makes sense.... Right?

Your menu sounds awesome! DH and his friends are sooooo lameeeee. I had all this awesome food planned and he's all "We're dudes, not chicks, just make burgers and pizza."

You are due a little bit before me! I hate that I have reaches the point of never ending hunger... It's never ending because th heartburn kills my ability to eat until satisfied.

My DH and the guys are equally lame, trust me. If us ladies weren't making the meal they would probably just tear through bag after bag of pretzels and potato chips. But we have them over for dinner every once in awhile so they are always super stoked for me to make them a meal. The food is probably the main reason everyone decided to come to my place. Well, we do have a large den that's perfect for parties and nice tv.
