Door knockers. Religious people.

Every weekend we get people knocking on our door telling us about their religion and stuff. Some people can actually be very insulting. I was just told that my children are going to hell because we don't believe. I was quite insulted.
And often people will hold the door open when I try to shut it. They can get really pushy.

What do you say to them when they come knocking? I dont want to be rude but also I'm really not interested. And I tell them this but they keep talking.
If you door knock, why?

Tell them you are to busy to listen because you are doing dishes. A lot of the time they will do your dishes for you while they preach lol I used to do it every once in awhile when I was younger.

I don't go to the door for them ever. When i see them strolling down the street. I run through my house and turn the lights off and any sounds. lol.

If they said you were going to hell, I'm going to assume they were mormans. Call their Church, leave a message with your name and address and tell them you do not want to be contacted.

We used to get people coming over a lot like that. We believe in God, but the people that came were always different religions and they would try to push their religion on us. Now we have a 'No Trespassing' sign at the end of our driveway and we haven't had any come to the door since then.  

I'm a christian, and those people make ME really uncomfortable. I don't understand that type of evangelism, especially when it's usually filled with hate & guilt-trips.

Wow. That is Rude. My church goes door knocking just to invite people to church and offer them help if they need anything or are goin through something. We will tell them about the Bible and such and talk if they are interested but we are definitely not pushy and respectful if they decline.

I start talking about Aphrodite and the sacred joy of prostitution.

I would debate with them in a friendly manner if I had time or mock them if they want to be an ass and say remarks like my child and I are going to hell. Which irritates them more and hilarity ensues for me.  

But slamming the door always works too!

I tell them I'm not interested. Honestly I've never had one be rude or not leave. Also, usually, if you ask, they'll take you off their visit list. At least Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses do.

It only takes a minute of my time, so I'm never too annoyed.

The only time I've ever experienced this was at a friend's house... I just kept talking until he said he had to leave!! Haha... I guess everyone's right. I really do have a big mouth  

Btw no one has come to her door since. He probably passed the word about the wacko blonde who wouldn't shut up ;)

Just going to someone's house uninvited is pretty disrespectful.

A lot of religions see "spreading the word" as a part of their practitioner's religious responsibility. That's why they do it.
Have you ever flat out asks them to leave?? They can be really really pushy but I just tell them "I'm not interested and I do not believe in your god. Please leave". I don't like being rude but forcing you to keep your door open and shoving their beliefs down your throat is really rude so I tend to lose my patience and be rude right back.

Tell them that you aren't interested. If they are rude enough to keep talking, be rude enough to close the door in their face.
