Im mormon - 'Latter day saint' OP, get a few book of mormons (free from missionaries or our church - no obligation) & hand one to them the next time they come.

i can guarantee they wont be back LOL!

I had JW's doing that all the time, i finally told them i was mormon, offered them a B.O.M & they immediately got all defensive/awkward and wanted to leave  ... i should of done it sooner!!!

I cant stand pushy people!

I'm nice and friendly to them. I smile and say thanks but no thanks and wish them a nice day. 90% of the time I get a smile back. It's just extremely rude to try and hold the door open or tell me my children are doomed. They're the ones I have a problem With.

Also, I don't know how I would deal with the rejection, if that were me. Do they find it insulting when I tell me I'm not inretested in their faith?

Honestly, if it were me i wouldn't be offended.

If they are all stuck up/self righteous then they probably pitty you to be honest!  

I dont know if you believe in a 'higher power' or not, if you'd like them to stop bugging you maybe put a small laminated sign on your door 'NO DOOR KNOCKERS!!' so they get the message.

As soon as i open the door i'm very straight up to them, ''Im sorry, I'm not interested in your religion, I already have mine'' Thank you and Good Bye!
I care less what they say after that.

Oh also, i got given a flyer one day while at a bus stop with my friends (i was about 14) he asked us a series of questions..

Have you lied?
Have you lust after someone/something in your heart?
etc

After we responded yes to each question he abruptly and loudly said 'YOURE GOING TO HELL!' LOL!!

I don't mind talking to them, usually.

There's this sweet Jehovah's Witness lady that comes to my house every couple of weeks to chat. She even brought me a gift when I had my 3rd baby. I don't have the heart to tell her I have no interest in joining her church.

They must not have been Witnesses then, because Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell.

We just tell them Jesus Christ is everything and to have a nice day. I've never had one try to hold the door open or be rude.

But one time when I was a kid and answered the door a woman gave me a pamphlet and told me to protect myself from west nile virus, and there was a mosquito on the front of it, so I said thanks and she left. Then I opened it and it was all about JW's. Lol. Trying to trick and deceive people into reading about what they believe is wrong, even if they thought it was good intentions.

I have NEVER had someone knock on my door about religion   I wish though..I would love to talk to them haha

I don't answer my door when I know they are there to talk about religion. They usually leave some kind of pamphlet, and I throw it away. A couple of times I have been caught outside leaving the house. I tell them I'm going to work and keep walking to my car. If I do answer the door, I tell them that I'm not interested and shut the door. No one has tried to hold the door open, yet.

Imagine if atheists did this.

I'm christian and I have had people come to my door... I tell them I believe in God already but usually they still want to talk. Depending on if they are rude or what not I will talk.
Just a month or so ago a man and his son came to tell me about his religion.. it was odd he kept talking about "God the mother" I had no clue what they were talking about. They kept going on about how their is a God the father AND a God the mother. He wasn't being rude and I wasn't in a hurry so I listend poliety to what they had to say.. my husband saw I was out there for along time so he went out there finally and told them that we already believe in God and that we don't share the same view as him and that we already have a church and then he sent them on their way. Lol
So my husband and I handle things differently.
