I had a person flip when they found out I was unmarried, a teen, and pregnant. They said "Well don't you want your baby saved?" I said "Well I'm Jewish so supposedly we are the chosen ones, and I'm not looked down upon in my religion anyways. I'm not interested in a religion that damns my child and makes me repent my 'sin' of having a child out of wedlock. She's not a sin." I usually don't answer. If I do, I try to politely tell them I am not interested. One person said "Aren't you interested in the word of God?" I said "I have my own relationship with God and no one needs to tell me how to think or what to think about him." End point. Close door, lol.

So... My husband and I are Mormon. He went on a mission in 2008. I asked him if he had companions who were pushy. He had 1 that wouldn't take no for an answer. So I guess it depends on the personality of the people. My husband wasn't one to push and not leave people alone. Sad that people are pushy... Being pushy and not leaving people alone are just making them hate the church even more...

I use to be a door knocker (JW). Some came to my house about a month ago, and when I told them i was disfellowshipped (excommunicated) they were SHOCKED and asked if I was interested in coming back. I said no, I'm muslim now. Lol. Anyway, I'm not even disfellowshiped, but they have to take me off their list now. We were very nice to each other though.

I agree rudeness shouldnt be your first resort when dealing with anyone, but I understand getting annoyed with the constant visits. When we first bought our house we would get missionaries or people on service calls almost every other day. Whether they were rude/pushy or not, it's really REALLY annoying. It was from the same four houses of worship. I think i should be able to tell a person from a particular organization one time that I'm not interested, and have that be the last time they contact me. And like another poster said, I called their house of worship and asked to please be left alone and the person on the phone began trying to educate on their religion and how I could be saved.
The first, second, even third visit I got in a ten day time span, I was annoyed but patient. But after a while it's enough, stop knocking on my door, stop waking up my toddler and desturbing our family time. I am not interested.
When they got pushy and offensive I lost my patience.
We have a no soliciting sign on our front door now and people tend to honor that. Sales people and religious missionaries alike.

No, jw's do not refer to themselves as missionaries. Everyone from little children to the old go out, typically on saturdays (but then you have the 'full time auxiliary pioneers' as they call themselves ...they try and get 50 hrs a monthlol).

Thankfully since living here a year and a half they have only came twice but now i wish they would just so I could use that line, lol...xD

Just draw a pentagram on your door in something that looks like the blood of sacrificed innocents.


If that's hard, just put something up saying "Thank you for the consideration you've given my soul but I'm fine where I"m at" or something like that.

When we lived in VA we always had someone knocking at our door to get us to go to their church, buy a magazine, use our phone, bum a cigarette, or whatever. I finally put a sign on the door stating that we are sound in our beliefs, we have enough magazines, and to not bother knocking unless it's a true emergency or maintenance.

Or you can just act deaf, lol. I never tried that one though. With my luck they'd know sign language.
