Question? Who went into labor after 40 weeks?
posted 1st Feb
Again just curious. My little love is due tomorrow and I told the doctor as long as he is safe and there is no reason for induction i'm fine leaving him where he is for at least another week until we really need to start discussing, Just a short update: I'm 40 weeks tomorrow baby is head down partially engaged and I am not effaced or dialated at all. Not that I'm worried about it truthfully as long as he is still healthy and growing fine. That being said just looking for some mommies labor stories about going into labor after 40 weeks and was it on your own, did you let them induce you? What was your experience and exactly what day did it happen?

I was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks exactly with my first, He started on his own at 40 weeks and 5 days but I still ended up needing some help with pitocin, his labor was 18 hours from the time I got admitted to labor and delivery.

Our daughters both came on their own at 41 weeks, they also came same day I had appointment where they start talking about inducing. With our oldest I wasn't dilated until the day I went into labor.

I fell out of bed 3 days after my due date, and my water broke. Went into labour pretty much immediately after that, but was in labour for about 36 hours. They had to induce me partway through because I just wasn't progressing fast enough.

I was 40w6d, went into labor the day before my induction. When I got to the hospital I was only a 3 but they admitted me anyways. A couple hours later after I got the epidural they started me on pitocen but had to wean me off because DS wasn't handling it well at all. I was only in labor for 19 hours. Oh, and I went into labor 2 hours after I had sex. Pretty sure its just because my body and baby were ready, but still.

5 years and 5 days ago, I was induced (41wks). I was effaced 25% and dialated 1cm for 3wks before that. 13.5hrs of inactive labor, pushed for 45 mins (had an epi 9hrs after arriving for induction). Was induced on a Tuesday night at 10pm, water broke when I went to the bathroom at 330am, pitocin at 730am, epi at 9am, slept the vast majority of the day (and hallucinated a little from the epi lol), started pushing around 430pm and she was born at 5:12pm on Wednesday, February 6th (200
I was sick of being pregnant by 38wks, glad they induced me, and would take the drugs again because they helped me so much.

Oh Thank you all so much. I'm so ready for him to be here I don't want to rush him which is why we are waiting another week but it's wonderful to hear so many success stories. Makes me feel better if anything. Well I go to the doctor Wednesday and he said would like to try induction at 41 weeks 2 days if he is not already here. I'm fine with that to, no matter anyones opinion on induction. THANK YOU AGAIN!

I was 1cm and 50% effaced a day before my due date. I ended up delivering at 40w4d, a day before my scheduled induction. Very happy I went on my own!

With my oldest I ended up going to 42 weeks. The day labor started I had discussed with my midwife things we would start to do the next day to get things moving but didn't need them. That night my labor started on its own and my daughter came 10 1/2 hours later at 42 weeks 1 day. With my second I went to 41 weeks 2 days before labor started ( on its own) she ended up being born 4 hours later at 41 weeks 3 days ( barely since she was born at 12:15 am) . I'm fine with going to 42 weeks before doing anything more then stress tests.

I was induced with my oldest at 41 weeks. He had been scheduled as a c-section but I ended up with the on call doctor and he said it wasn't necessary to do surgery, which it was bc my sons head was huge. He almost shattered my pelvis, I tore and needed 8 stitches and he ended up spending the first night in the nicu having fluid pumped out of his lungs bc he swallowed so much being stuck in the birth canal for 36 long hours of labor. They gave me 2 epidurals bc they administered the first one incorrectly and my entire body was numb they had to tell me when I was having a contraction so I could push it was horrible. He had a huge sore on the back of his head from rubbing against my pelvic bone for so long it took the sore almost 2 full months to heal. I have never been so mad in all of my life. The doctor put me and my baby in danger all bc he wouldn't read what my doctor had in my file.

41 weeks 5 days I went into labor naturally, got fully dilated, pushed for 5 hours. Had a c-section because of baby's position. I'm glad I wasn't induced. (I would've been at 42 weeks.) I'm confident my c-section was necessary.
