That's eczema. My son had it when he was a baby and it looked exactly like that. If it's crusting yellow, however, it's probably infected with impetigo. You need to get him to the doctor for a cream for the impetigo, and hydrocortisone for the eczema.

If that does not work I would take him to the doctor and ask that they prescribe Triamcinalone. That is what I have to use on my boys and it is amazing.

It's a skin infection. My son had it as a baby, because his eczema got infected. It smells REALLY foul...have you noticed a smell coming from his ear area?

That's good. It may not be infected yet. For now, I would just keep using hydrocortisone on it, that may clear it up. If it doesn't, however, then I would take him to the doctor next week.

Cheers love, i'll keep any eye on it. Luckily my sisters a nurse in A&E so if it does start smelling or whatever over the weekend i'll take him to her and see if she can sort something for him. That's a last resort though, I know how busy them poor nurses are.   x

If it's impetigo it is EXTREMELY contagious and you should take him as soon as possible.

  • Red sores that quickly rupture, ooze for a few days and then form a yellowish-brown crust
  • Itching
  • Painless, fluid-filled blisters
  • In the more serious form, painful fluid- or pus-filled sores that turn into deep ulcers

this only thing his got on that list is the yellowy crust... and the only time it bothered him is when i wash it. there's no puss or blisters.

Try cornstarch!...My DS neck got really red from slobber from teething so bad and it dried to right up! you have to pat it on there 4 or 5 times a day or if it starts looking moist rub it off with a dry tissue and add it again!
