AF and passing clots...(maybe TMI)

The past few months of AF I've been passing a lot of clots..this month I've been passing more and I'm only on day 3 then I have any other month. I don't know if my period has always been like this but I know since I started having kids my periods have become real heavy the first few days to where I always have to run to the bathroom because I'm passing clots/bleeding kind of heavy. The clots aren't usually too big so I'm not worried about the size just the amount that I pass. I know passing clots is normal but is there a point to where it's too much? I am going to make an appointment with my doctor here soon so I can get her opinion but until then I figured I would ask y'all to see if anyone else has this problem. TIA for any advice.
