Keeps hitting head

posted 1st Feb
So my daughter is almost 14 months. She's a clutz lol she's my kid so it's no wonder really. But it's getting bad. In the past week she has had no less then 5 huge bumps to the head among some smaller ones. Last sunday she hit the corner of her head on my moms coffee table and it indented I was about to take her to er but it came out and she was fine just a bump and a bruise. Then weds she hit her head on the wall, then took a header into the rocks outside cuz she was running down the driveway. Both ended in bruises. Then later that day she slammed the side of her face on my coffe table hitting behind her ear and along her jaw. Had tiny skin breaks under ear an on chin. Then yesterday we get to my moms and her dog slammed her down and he went head first into the cabinets and yet again a huge bump that was there got awhile. Then last night after I left for work my husband tells me that she fell again into the coffee table and nailed her forehead. I'm just worried that all theses bumps and hits to the head are going to hurt her. I'm calling her doctor today to talk to him. But I'm just wondering what y'all mommas think. Should I be concerned? Sorry this is so long.

A helmet? LOL jk. She's fine, once they really figure out walking and to a lesser extent running they just get really clumsy. My DS is 20 months old and going through another clumsy faze because he's now learning to hop and run (faster) it's sad when they get hurt but, in my experience, completely normal.

I would definitely be concerned and I'd throw out my coffee table.

This is also true, except I wouldn;t outright get rid of it, I'd just hide it until shes not quite so clumsy.

I'm seriously considering a helmet lol. Her entire forehead is a big bruise lately. And the thing is she's great at walking been waking for 5 months now almost. Idk I'm just worried cuz they are big hits to the head and it just worries me. She acts fine afterwards like i pick her up and love on her and shes good after 5 mins but I've noticed this week she has been more clumsy then normal.

My moms is worse then mine. I have this tiny coffee table with rounded edges and it's not sharp but her little head is like a magnet to get hit. It's an everyday thing lately.

In my experience it was normal for my kids to get clumsy as soon as they had been walking a few months, it's almost like they become too comfortable and careless with it lol. You should definitely let your pediatrician know about it and definitely start rearranging things around the house that have edges and corners so she wont run into them. Obviously some things you can't help, but If it's reasonable to move an item I would.

Alot of the time she hits like a wall or the cabinets. Idk just scared cuz the 2 yesterday were pretty bad like I was expecting blood bad. And the one last Sunday like I said indented at first which totally freaked me out! We were packing diaper bag and my mom looked at her and it had come out and turned into a bump so we didn't go. I'm just worried one time it's gona cause like internal bleeding or something. Or like crack her skull and I won't know.

I was fine up until indented on the side of the head. I may just be a paranoid mom but I would take my son to the ER if his head indented.

My daughter is a daredevil and gets hurt all the time. She started climbing and jumping off of stuff as soon as she could walk at 11 months. Tye last straw withthe coffee table was when she jumped off of the couch into it at 20 months and hit her head had enough to need stitches, we replaced it with a soft Over-sized ottoman with a tray on it for drinks and things. Can you do something like that? My husban and I joke that we need a padded wrong and lots of bubble wrap for Jillian.

After a few months of walking they got really confident and start to get clumsy, all these booboos should teach her a healthy fear of being too reckless. She will eventually grow out of this stage but if you're concerned you can always bring it up with your doctor.

My daughter is clumsy too.. And of course her favorite toy is the coffee table.. Haha Thank god it doesn't have sharp edges.. She used to hit her head all the time on the table.. She is only 10 months, she's fine I actually think that she learns from it.. Even though she does it on a daily basis.. haha
