DD was attacked in the face by our pit. I was there the whole time. She was playing at the coffee table and he was on the couch. Out of no where he lunged towards her and had her head/face in his mouth. She did NOTHING to him. Everyone was insisting she must have, but I watched the whole thing happen (since I was sitting right there). I didn't even have time to jump in.

I rushed her to the ER (since it was so close to our old house) they made a bite report and animal control was involved. They said if I didn't give him up to the shelter to be put down they would come get him and do it themselves. DH was crushed, as was I, since Buddy was a really, really, really sweet dog. But I couldn't chance it. What if he did it again?! If DD was harassing him, then I wouldn't have brought him to the shelter. But this was out of no where. He was growling and all when her head was in his mouth. It was so scary. I didn't even have time to get his mouth off of her since it was so fast, too. Blood was all over the place.

She ended up two bite marks on her face, three stitches each. About 5/6 on her head with various amounts of stitches. Her little almost two year old face has scars on it. Oh and at the time she was just about a year old.

I want a pitbull some day, but not until I'm done having kids and they are all older. I was told they get very jealous and the sweetest ones will attack babies and young children cause they get jealous of the attention being given to the child.

My friend told me about a family who had like 2 pitbulls and one day they got jealous of the baby and attacked the baby and it got gruesome... (as in ripped the baby apart and killed it.) (When ever I think about that or she tells me about it, again. It makes me so sad. And I never want to believe it!)

When it happened she cried for about 10 minutes. Cried during the stitches and cleaning part. And ever since then has acted like nothing has happened. She is still in love with dogs and animals.
Nope, he was the biggest teddy bear. Best dog I've had (other then the one I had growing up). They were like best friends, too. Which I we don't get why he did it. He was about a year old. We also had a baby pugapoo who we got at 4 weeks old and nursed him back to health. Buddy was IN LOVE with him. Bruiser was his little baby. He was so sweet to that little 2 pound puppy. Mind you Buddy was pushing 100 pounds, mostly all muscle.
We still to this day don't get why he did it. We just didn't want to chance it happening again. My child comes first! It would have been different though if she was harassing him. Even when she did, he would take it and give me the look like "why me, mom?!".

My uncle's friend had a pit and it killed their newborn baby. The baby was only about a week old. It was very, very sad.

I was always told its best to bring a dog into a child's environment then a child into a dog's environment. Then they're most likely not going to be jealous.

We currently have two 'new' dogs. A Scottie and a Lasa Apso (sp?) Mini Poodle mix. Our Scottie is a puppy (will be a year in March) and our Lasa mix is an old lady I rescued from the shelter a few months ago (she's about 6-8, were still not too sure). They're both so good with DD and babies (I have a few girl friends with younger kids and babies). They're also both very protective of my big ole baby belly right now!

Oh and to add, I will never get a pit again. Never.

it scares me because my 2 year old am staff is like that hes sooo soppy but theres always that what if he just randomly attacks DS. my friends have a pitbull shes about 1- 1 1/2 now and theyre DS is like 8 months old and the pitty has growled at me just randomly a few times, and apparently bitten someone for accidently standing on her foot, it makes me really worry about the baby. but my dog takes A LOT OF Smurf from DS lol and really doesnt bother unless hes trying to get some attention from me and he gets rammed then he looks at me with his sad face like why is this child here?!

I wouldn't trust their pitbull! At all. Especially around my child.
We have friends with a dog that constantly growls and shows teeth at DD just for walking by him. Every time we visit them, I make sure the dog is locked up. At first our friends were mad when I said something. But I nicely told them that I don't want to see my DD bit or them having to pay all our medical bills (since they are living check by check).

I think I was more traumatized then she was. I'm actually surprised she is still in love with dogs and acted like nothing happened.

I really want a dog, but cant have one until we get a house. Then I get a lab, our family breeds them. I also want a small fluffy dog. Like a Pomeranian, I want a white one. Some day i'd like a pitbull. But I wanna make sure I don't have babies then, just to be safe.
