Help please Dr gave no good advice

posted 1st Feb
My daughter is a month old, She acts like she acts like shes hungry but refuses to eat anything, nurse, bottle, formula, breast milk. She just got out of the hospital from being very dehydrated to the point they couldn't even draw blood for tests. She keeps us up all night and we cant afford to play this game all night. I almost fell asleep behind the wheel driving my older two home and its not worth nursing if i am putting my other two in danger. But I dont think nursing is the issue because shes not even taking a bottle.Anyone else have this issue?

Did you talk to a lactation consultant? They will give you more info than a nurse. Have you tried different types of bottles? Have you tried pumping?

Maybe you aren't producing enough. That's the only thing I can think of since she was so dehydrated and they said she has a proper latch. Keep putting her to the boob as often as you can to encourage a better let down.

My daughter had that issue. They ended up putting a feeding tube into her until she started eating from a bottle herself. She was 2 weeks old. Had it for 3 weeks or so and she worked with a therapist to help her suck.

thats not stupid at all. Thats a pretty good question

Here is another, was it a hard birth? Sometimes the babies are out of alignment from being born and that cause a whole slew of problems. Maybe take her to the chiro to get adjusted and see if that helps

Is she gaining weight steadily? Maybe she isn't hungry and you are just thinking she is. Is she maybe lactose intolerant? Or gluten intolerant?

My daughter was the same. My pedi had me cut out all lactose and gluten products it helped a little. What helped most was when the midwife I went to see helped me with getting her to latch ( she was taking in too much air) and told me she was having to much at once (she was gaining 2 pound a week)

Thanks! Had to ask...my son is so it's something that I thought of, especially when she said baby has a good latch.
