When do you have to have these decisions made?

Some of these are aimed towards c-sec moms, but some anyone can answer.


Circ-ing.
My son isn't.
I'm dead set on NOT circ'ing.
My dude is set on doing it.
I've already presented the facts to him, he doesn't care.
So my question is, what'll happen in the hospital when they ask?
Does it get discussed with them prior to delivery?

I'm having a repeat c-sec and they're tying my tubes during it.
When does the paperwork get done for that?
We have a thing called "stork express" at our hospital (does yours have something like that?)
Just a pre-visit for insurance paperwork 'n such.
Do you sign things for it there?
Do you have up until the day it's done to decide?

I'm doing my tour in 2 weeks where I'll fill out my insurance stuff and all that jazz.
Circ-ing wasn't address with my sons until after birth, but we did talk about it with my nurse at the beginning stages of labor.
You'll have to find out from your pedi about when they need a decision on it since they'll be the one performing it.
BUT neither of mine are circ'd so I dunno from experience : )

I think circumcision is ultimately up to you, I would tell him that you've made up your mind and someday when he's older, he can choose to change that if he wants. I feel so good that I stuck with my gut and didn't do it. My husband wanted to at first but he came around.

UGH i mean, we're coming out of this with our son intact- i just don't want it to become some big 'thing' while we're in the hospital because we can't agree  

I don't know. We don't even have a boy and I've already talked my SO into being anti-circ... Well I pretty much just told him the facts and he decided for his self. But before I talked to him he was so uneducated about it. Good luck! I hope he comes around.

I mean, you pushed the baby out of your vagina... I'm pretty sure the hospital won't circ him against your will just because that's what your SO wants. Hopefully he won't cause a scene.

I'll answer the ones I can. They asked me at my 32 week appointment if I was circ'ing. They also told me that if I wanted to tie my tubes, I had to sign a form 30 days before my expected due date first. That way it can't just be a quick in the moment decision. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone though

we haven't even revisited the conversation again in months cos i get so upset over it  
my dude needs to come around cos there's no way i'm budging on this. like...no one's cutting anything off of our son

It was always left up to me to make the final decision...I'd pull your nurse aside and let her know a decision has already been made and ask her to please not ask after delivery.

but yeah, i thought it was probably one of those things where if one parent is saying no they don't do it? but i don't know.

From what I know from talking to various moms. The Mother has the only say in the procedures on the child, especially since you and dumbass aren't married

My hospital didn't do his circ, I had to take him to my drs. My ob said that I needed to have my paper to get my tubes tied signed and filed @ least 30 days before delivery. I brought a copy of that plus insurance ect when I did my tour & registered

that actually sounds familiar (the tube tying part)
my doc had explained it to me at my first visit but then i couldn't remember  

dude doesn't come to my appointments with me anymore (they're all scheduled while he's at work) so i would just tell them that i'm not wanting to circ but dad still needs to come around to that?  

When I delivered at <Same hospital> they checked several times in the OR loudly. Are we tying tubes. Response-No. I signed the tubal decline paperwork morning of. And the circumcision is something you have to set up with your ped. It is my understanding. I never did so I'm not 100%. It was never even offered.

i wondered if that played a part in it.
like, obviously he's a parent who should have a say.
but when it comes to one parent wanting to cut something off a kid, and the other not- you'd think they'd go with the option that can be changed if need be.
