cystic fibrosis? give me some info!

posted 31st Jan
I've somehow stumbled upon cystic fibrosis and I kind of wonder if my DD could have it

she's very small for her age she's 13 months old and about 18-20 lbs and around 28-30 inches tall.
In a size 3 diaper, and 9 months-12 months clothes.
She seemed to just stop growing all of the sudden.
I'm not sure on many other symptoms, could someone give me some info possibly?
TIA!

Cystic fibrosis is a chronic respiratory illness. Does she get ill a lot? My daughter was only 19 pounds at 12 months. She didn't gain any weight from then until 16 months. She's healthy as can be. Do you take her to her wellness visits?

Lick her skin, see if it's salty.

No joke.

I have a good friend with it, and she didn't get diagnosed till the age of 7, first thing the Dr said to do was lick her skin.

My DD was tested for it when she was 8ish months old. She was diagnosed with failure to thrive before then and wanted to see what the cause was. There are more than one strand I believe, they wanted to test her for the uncommon one since she didn't have many signs of having it. They do a salt test by placing a bracelet on the arm that causes the body to create sweat, there's a device on the bracelet that catches the sweat and then they test the level of salt.

People with CF have very high salt levels.

My DD is almost 17 months and is 19lbs and 31 inches.

Not a lot, well I don't think so
She has had like 3-4 colds since she was born. Like snotty, congested, ect.
Yes, she goes to all her well visits.

I think it's more likely that your child is just petite. I wouldn't jump straight to CF, but if you're concerned, mention it to her pedi. Has he/she ever expressed concern about her size?

Nope it's not salty.
I probably just looked like the biggest creeper leaning in her crib licking her while she sleeps.   lol

Her pedi always says she's fine when I bring up her weight.
DD is usually in like the 50th percentile, well she was at her 9 month well visit.
But her pedi said she worries more about overweight babies and small babies are just fine.

All my kids are in the 10%-15% tile.
So she's doing good.
